$200 smartphone

I've been searching for a new smart phone in the $200-$250 range. It seems like I'll be stuck buying a model from 2006 as all the new ones cost much more.

I currently have a Sony Ericsson W300i, which I have had for about 18 months. It has been a pretty good phone, but I want something that can do a little bit more.

My mobile provider is tmobile so I don't have any use for 3g

Here is what I want(in order of importance:

1)Wi-fi and good web browsing capability

2)Good email

3)Good mp3 playback

4)a pretty good camera - with flash if possible

5)at least enough battery life to get through a couple of days of light use

6)small enough to carry around in pocket like normal cell phone

7)lots of third party mods and software

GPS would be nice also

I have been looking at:

1)HTC Wizard - looks pretty good, I see them around for sub $200. Only concern is its size and thickness

2)HTC Touch - looks pretty nice especially its size, but it looks like it is pretty slow and has no external keypad

Any other reccomendations?

I appreciate your help.

I've no idea what prices are like (I'm assuming you are in the US as you talk in $ and say T-Mob has no 3G!!!)

Both the phones you have been looking at are PPCs (Touchscreen devices) rather than smartphones and, although more powerful, can take a bit of getting used too. The Wizard is pretty old and has been superseded by the kaiser but the touch is a great phone if you don't mind the lack of keyboard. Like I say, I don't know what prices are like in the US so can't really recommend anything, the one thing I will say tho, is if you are looking for a good camera forget WinMo devices. The cameras are adequate but no more, certainly not up to those on SE devices. If an only adequate camera is acceptable you should be able to find a great WinMo device.

Good luck.

I have been looking at phones for a couple weeks now and have you looked into the Shadow? I think it meets all your needs. I've been looking at the Wing it's a little bigger than the Shadow. These are both available from T-mobile the Shadow is about $150 the Wing about $250.
