Guest Paul (MVP)
It's here! I'm now the proud owner of a UK PRODUCTION ROM HTC Touch Diamond :D The Touch Diamond is of course the latest and greatest from HTC, with a spec sheet that's second to none, a new design direction for HTC and an incredibly svelte form factor! As you can see from this unboxing video (currently processing), HTC have also taken a new, sexy direction with the packaging. If you have any questions at all about the device, post them here, or if you're a fellow owner, head over to http://Diamond.MoDaCo.com and let's share our thoughts :( P
Guest Chimpanzee
Hi Paul How smooth are the animations on the touch flow interface? It looked a bit like it was struggling in the demo videos you posted a while ago. Is it available on any uk networks yet? If not, any idea when? Guest Mikeyb50
Much, MUCH improved in this latest ROM I am relieved to say! P Has the music player been fixed to allow your album covers to be shown & not the 5 demo covers. It seems pretty pointless showing us this feature it we can't use it. When is the protective HTC slide out leather case due?
Guest awarner (MVP)
with a spec sheet that's second to none Apart from the new Samsung i900 and the low res camera compared to other non Windows smartphone devices :D How good is the camera? Guest richair
1) How is the on-screen keyboard in single-handed use? and with a stylus? 2) Is there a provision for speed-dials in TouchFlo 3D or do you have to go into the standard contact list every time? 3) Do you use the "D-pad" controls often? How does it handle? 4) Do you miss (in daily practice) a jog wheel and/or the Start- and OK-buttons? Edited June 19, 2008 by richair

Guest shootydogthing
It beats the i900 in a few specs... plus TouchFLO 3D And get this instead of the iPhone 2 unless you need the extra storage or bigger (but lower res) screen... 1) coolsmartphone.com has videos of this 2)press the dial key and I believe you can set up speed dials as usual... Guest awarner (MVP)
It beats the i900 in a few specs... plus TouchFLO 3D Apart from more RAM what is actually better? Also HTC TouchFLO3D and the Samsung equivilent Touchwiz UI does not make a device. Key things the Samsung beat the Diamond hands down is, 1, Internal storage plus MicroSD support 2, 5MP camera 3, 1440mAh battery

With a stylus, go back to the traditional WinMo onscreen qwerty for easiest use, imo. 2) The 'People' tab is effectively a speed-dial equivalent, or you can use voice commands. 3) I rarely use the d-pads personally, but when I do I rarely get problems. The only problems I do ever have are around accidentally pressing one of the other buttons, but a bit of simple care avoids this. It's not a major issue once you've learned it once. 4) I thought I would really miss the jog wheel from my Tytn, but the onscreen scroll and the TouchFlo3D interface are a decent substitute. There are few cases now where I wish I had it - primarily in Opera if I'm trying to scroll through a long text file.

Guest Paul (MVP)
1) How is the on-screen keyboard in single-handed use? and with a stylus? The onscreen keyboards are excellent for fingers and stylus, just wish it had haptics! 2) Is there a provision for speed-dials in TouchFlo 3D or do you have to go into the standard contact list every time? Yes, you can have favourite contacts in TF3D/ 3) Do you use the "D-pad" controls often? How does it handle? Trying to get used to not using it, I don't really like the dpad on it. Up and down are OK, left and right don't feel that definite. 4) Do you miss (in daily practice) a jog wheel and/or the Start- and OK-buttons? I never use a wheel anyway, but I think I will miss the start / OK buttons! Watch this space :D No denying it looks smooth tho for losing them! P I agree with you - a Haptic touchscreen KB must be amazing. Do you think Haptics will ever come to HTC devices? Is it due to patent / licensing? Guest Paul (MVP)
I think it will... the Diamond was supposed to have haptics but they didn't get a satisfactory experience in time for launch. When you play the rolly-ball game, you can feel the motors in there :D P
