If/when it does work, then iGO knocks the socks off CPL in all areas! I`ve got an e-mail from Navgo and they are not working on a solution for the app. to run on devices without a memoryslot. I also know that it is possible to copy the files over to the Diamond a just change a little word to get it to work on the Diamond. Why do you mean the Igo 8 knock CoPilot? Guest Neil5459 Posted July 21, 2008 Report Share Posted July 21, 2008 I can't comment on how iGO can be copied to internal memory, as I was a Beta tester for iGO8 and this is against the T&C :D Also, I've not used iGO8 on the Diamond, but use it on my Athena. The interface, the graphics, the routing accuracy and the comprehensiveness of the maps (42 EU country maps are supplied) make iGO probably the best Sat Nav program around at present. OK- the 3D city centres are a gimmick, and not very useful, but the 3D terrain mapping is very effective. CPL is capable, but very limited in its display options. It also has some major flaws in its routing algorithm in some areas, often resulting in it promoting an incorrect fastest route. It has free speed cameras, people can track you, the links to outlook are great, just select a contact and it asks you which address if there is more than one. One area that iGO falls down is the Traffic feature. They use the TMC channel built into some external GPS receivers, but not into PDA/PND devices. TMC is not very good in UK, but better in Europe. Unfortunately there are no plans to introduce a GSM traffic update. Speed cameras are good- you get the current set when you register, but need a subscription to get hold of updates (€19 for 2 years); each camera can be edited for speed/type/direction and cameras added/removed, but there is no 'community' function - changes remain on your local device. iGO has no equivalent of CPL's excellent messaging/collaboration system. Comparing the maps on CP7 with the latest TomTom and also the latest ones downloaded from Route66's website - CP7 was the only program to include a major road change near my home... despite the change being made over 5 years ago! CP7 has also never made a mistake when it comes to getting me to my destination, TomTom for example was constantly taking me past my stop, insisting I still had a couple of miles left. Guest spacerace Posted July 22, 2008 Report Share Posted July 22, 2008 I love CP7, very good software. I also bought the 2Yr Traffic deal which has saved me numerous times. Set to Auto it will download traffic info and seamlessly divert you round anything it finds on your route. Have sent them a mail and asked if it is possible to do it once. Hopefully they will, but I doubt.
