Thanks for the review Paul, looks very interesting- making me lean towards this rather than the touch pro

however.....

You say the keyboard doesnt have any arrow keys?? This seems crazy to me- so you press the hardware button for the start menu, and then have to go all the way up and click on the screen! For how i use my vario i think i'd find that really annoying, but perhaps with a bigger screen.. i dunno

Which you've already told us doesn't work. I'm still on my e650 but have to agree, the lack of arrow keys does seem wholly stupid. Perhaps I'm missing something with the touch screen...

I'd be very interested in the HD vs X1 question above as that's what my choice is down to at the moment.

Does this unbranded version come with Windows Live for Windows Mobile?

I just got a T-Mobile Compact IV and was really annoyed that their customized install does not include any Live components (- I rely on Live on any Windows Mobile device to sync my Contacts).

Thanks,
Rob.

2. No, it has no nice onscreen input methods, although the ones from the Diamond / Touch Pro can be installed without much fuss...

P

Paul, could you point me in the right direction of a working Diamond on screen keyboard cab, the ones I've tried from xda-developers don't display properly on the X1 ?
Cheers.

Now that you've had the X1 for a couple of weeks how does the battery hold up?

I'd be looking for 2 hours of calls per day, 10 - 20 texts, 1 - 2 hrs of internet via 3G, and pushmail during business hours.

Do you think the X1 would be able to deal with that?

I really want to switch back to WinMob from Nokia but I cannot find the right device!

Good Evening..

Very nice Review Sir, just got a question for you: How is the sound quality in the speakers in the X1? I had the Nokia E90 before, and the e90 had stereo speaker(like X1) and used it to play music from youtube and so on while i was doing homework or just surfing the web, dont know if you ever have heard the sound from the speakers in E90 or Nokia n95, but if you have heard it.. How would you say Xperia X1 speakers are compared to them..

Thanks :lol:

Very few WinMo devices come with stereo speakers (Wizard, Universal, Flame - all the three are heavily outdated). And even they deliver far worse sound quality (thru the speakers) than the N95.

Unfortunately, WinMo device manufacturers don't even try to release models with powerful, high-quality stereo speakers. Which is definitely a pity now that the N95 is 1.5 years old...

Hey Paul!! i wanted to ask you for you opinion.
Im considering both OMNIA and XPERIA... I kind of like more de Xperia (Keyboard, resolution, stylish XD) and somehow i like more SE than Samsung since always... but heres the thing
im very used to Symbian OS and i really liked the fact that there were plenty of apps and games and emulators and so on, and they most were compatible.
Now, with WinMo 6 Thats not exactly the same situation. Yes, there are a lot of apps oyut there. But also a lot of compatibility problems:
* Resolution
* WinMO version
* WinMo rom (?)
* Proessor Speed
* More....

I cant tell, anyways, since i have no experience with windows mobile at all. So in that sense, which phone do you think is better for me specially if a like a lot games and apps in my mobile. Hardware-wise im just in love with the Xperia. But i kind of dislike the idea of having it hthere hanging with no more to do than call and browse and multimedia. I think you know what i mean.

And if there is any link or info you could give me to start my life in WinMo (XD) to get to understand basics and where to get apps, that would be just awesome.

Btw, sorry to ask you so much,.... :lol:

Basically if you can use a windows operating system you can use the xperia. But in the xperia case imagine you have your one computer with 9 different monitors with 9 different desktops. Each desktop you have set in ways you like ... example from media desktop to simple desktop with applications to desktop with a screensaver running all the time where you are able to still pull programs from start > programs. That is the basic understanding for the xperia ... now for where to get apps. All depends on what kind of apps you need or want. Like for me I didnt know what apps I wanted i just wanted a subway map. So I googled "subway map nyc windows mobile." And found tube2, thats basically how I got my apps ... not sure how to post a youtube video
here or start a new post with my useful apps video but ill figure a way out and show u. I also have links to the side to show what apps I used.

Thanks,
Rob.
