my i600 connects fine to my wireless router from any room but the internet does not work if im in the same room as the router. if i leave to another room, where the signal strength is lower, it starts working again is there some setting i need to change somewhere in the modem or i600 to fix this?

What router are you using? Also what ISP are you using and is it Cable/ADSL/Dial-up?
