unfortunately, no progress.

i've searched around, but found no tool that could convert it into .bin file(s).

hex edited it, and it does not contain the info that determines the start and the end of pda.bin and phone.bin. these infos are present in .bins and .exes, so i don't know why it's not present in this .img

but i'll keep you updated if i find anything...

Hello,

Forgive me if I am stupid. Could this i900Tool program help?

There are instructions on dumping the rom from the Omnia here:

http://www.modaco.com/content/i9x0-omnia-r...ce/#entry945006

The relevant part is:

QUOTE

Here is a short instruction on how to dump a i900:

Requirements:

Activesync installed

Samsung Modem Driver Installed

1. Enable access to ROM by setting reg-key HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies 00001001 from 2 to 1

2. Reboot your i900

3. Download isutils to dump your ROM from http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=2ce11b6...2db6fb9a8902bda

4. Evaluate exact size of your ROM by typing the following at command prompt

CODEpdocread -l

You will get something like

128.58M (0x8095800) DSK1:

| 1.35M (0x159800) Part00

| 3.08M (0x313800) Part01

| 124.15M (0x7c27800) Part02

Which means the flash memory (=DSK1) is split in 3 partitions with total size of 0x8095800 bytes = 134.830.080 bytes

5. Dump your ROM using the evaluated flash size by typing the following at command prompt

CODEpsdread -1 0 0x8095800 i900GXHI5.img

Afterwards the ROM can be flashed by using Mirage LV http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=2ce11b6...2db6fb9a8902bda

using EBOOT+PDA+PHONE button

Does a technical document showing the omnia parts and components help you guys to find out if this rom can or cannot give us an extra 3g band?

Its a service manual and shows a lot: parts, components, assembling, disassembling, etc... I found it somewhere googling something (dont remember where), I uploaded for you guys here:

http://www.4shared.com/file/77205801/9d9a8...ice_Manual.html

And, there's something interesting I found at the samsungparts website: www.samsungparts.com

There are two different parts called s/w (I dont have a clue what it is) one for i900 and other for i900L. They are:

1) http://www.samsungparts.com/part_detail.as...d=GH46%2D00815A

Part Number: GH46-00815A

Division: Mobile Phones

Description: S/W CD-SGH-I900L (7 BAND) <--- 7 bands = 4band gsm + 3band 3g (the dreamed 850, 1900 and 2100 I guess )

Stock Availability: No longer available

Price: not available

2) http://www.samsungparts.com/part_detail.as...d=GH46%2D00814A

Part Number: GH46-00814A

Division: Mobile Phones

Description: S/W CD-SGH-I900 (5 BAND) <--- 5 bands = 4band gsm + 1band 3g (our 2100 I guess )

Stock Availability: No longer available

Price: not available

This part seems to be a CD...

I found there other parts for i900 and i900L (intenna, antenna, etc.. you can see the list of all i900 parts searching for key "i900" in mobile phone section), so maybe we could find wich one is responsible for the bands.

So, I guess Secany is right when said that i900 omnia flashed with i900L rom will not make it 3g triband.... BUT if we can get the right part, and change it inside our phones (changing our hardware), I think it could enable our 3g without flashing anything to our phone (As secany says that there's no lock on the software).

This proves nothing, if you notice it says S/W before both of them, meaning that those are the bands available with said software. I dont think we are held down by hardware at all. Just my opinion, anyone else want to back me up?!?!?

that's what i was afraid of...

so if this is confirmed, the best alternative would be to buy an original i900L, with warranty, etc...

alinez, congrats for your efforts!!!

______________

edit:

the hardware being sold could be a CD containing a software (S/W CD) to enable the 7 bands... and then, that could be good news!!!!

otherwise, it could be only the setup cd that comes bundled with the phone. the "(7 band)" could be just an explanation to clarify that it is really for i900L, not for i900, which is 5 band.

Well sea_man, Its not that bad, I think its way easier to change a hardware than to try to make a rom not compatible with our phones.

cpiddy, that's not the only evidence on the part list, why would they have antenna and intenna for i900 and i900L if its the same part? So, I guess it's not the same part.

I started this discussion a long time ago, and had no hope at that time...

http://www.modaco.com/content/i9x0-omnia-h...en-a-i900l-rom/

And, obviously, if samsung can have a triband phone just by flashing a new rom (they already have the rom), so why don't they put it available for all on their website? (It's easier to make people flash their phones than to make people bring their phones to the samsung repair centers to change a part on it)

I think I will sell my phone then go to the Claro store, buy the i900L, have my omnia fully working in Brazil, USA, Europe, Asia, etc.. and forget about it

Or, if you guys can tell what part of the phone can be changed to get our triband...

Oh, by the way, I think those part are the CD that comes with the phone, I just pointed it out because it's pretty clear to me that the "(5 BAND)" is related to its preceding word (i900) and the "(7 BAND)" is related to its preceding word (i900L) letting us know that the i900 is 5band and the i900L is 7band... (just that)

I dont think a parts list with no explanation of prices or anything is proof enough, sorry.

I'm not trying to fight with you, I want us all to work together to make this work.

What's up with this:

Many had presumed that the Samsung i900L was the Samsung Omnia heading for AT&T, but it turns out they are wrong. Yes it definitely is an Omnia, but is on its way south.

Actually, Samsung’s Venezuela site officially showcases the Samsung i900L on its products page along with images and specs, and no doubt other South American countries are lined up as well.

Further updates state that the Samsung i900L supports UMTS 2100 rather than 850/1900.

Some of the memory on the phone is not cleared or updated during a Flash or hard reset.

For example, the IMEI is actually stored in memory. The IMEI in memory can be changed (although this is not legal) despite the fact that the original IMEI is printed on the outside of the phone.

However, these changes are purposefully difficult.

One thing that I did notice on the I900 is the fact that if you change your preferred band settings using admin.exe (i.e. to WCDMA), this change will survive a "complete" flash and a hard reset.

Are there any apps similar to Reglogger that track all accesses to the file system? I would like to see what gets written to when we set the preferred band option in admin.exe.

It seems fairly clear that the samsung hardware in the I900 is capable of many bands. I have a hard time believing that they would create a new hardware design for the I900L.

Unfortunately, it seems like no one here knows exactly the radio band selection information is stored. Unless someone knows otherwise, I imagine that we will need some sort of information leak from someone oin the know. Either that or someone who can debug the omnia in action and understand the assembly well enough to reverse engineer the radio setup/controll process.
