I was under the impression that most banks allowed Opera, as a browser, access to online banking  facilities. It seems that Natwest, with whom I have a business account, do not allow this browser.

However, I'm aware that this is probably simply a matter of spoofing the user agent.

Any ideas how this can be done simply? Perhaps there is a small app we could write that would override a registry setting for one session only, or something like that?

Not being able to do online banking is pretty annoying - I use it to transfer money quite frequently when I'm out of the house.

You could try modifying the User Agent to a generic desktop string like:
Mozilla/5.001 (windows; U; NT4.0; en-US; rv:1.0) Gecko/25250101

but make sure you take a copy of the original first, for if/when you want to revert.

Another option might be to install Netfront Concept 3.5 Beta. Netfront has a Menu/Browser Options sub-menu which allows you to define multiple User Agent strings, and then switch between them at will, which makes the process faster and less cumbersome.

This solution definitely works with Lloyds online banking, though I've not tried NatWest.

Alternativly and more simply, have you tried the also built in microsoft internet explorer? Most people prefer the more touch friendly opera but IE is still availble in 'all program'

PIE doesn't currently support the Ajax protocols a lot of online commerce sites use, though this is due to be available in PIE 6 which is starting to appear in the latest devices.
