Create Accounthas anyone else had any problems with sms's being delayed. sometimes they take 3 hours to come through and then 3 come through at once.

That will be your network, or the senders network, it's not phone specific.
give your network a call and ask them why they are being slow.

I have a friend in Canada on Telus (I'm in the US on AT&T) who can send me SMSes instantly, but sometimes, MMSes take a few hours to get here.

Well I'm on o2 UK and my SMS get delivered instantly, but my MMS to voda UK arrive the next day usually, which I find slightly odd.
