Call waiting notification not heard

I just got a replacement phone for my HTC S740 as the first one I had would not alert me of a second incoming call (whilst my C500, C600 AND my S710 all alerted me of a second incoming call). I called my provider (Orange) who asked me to try various things, none of which worked so they sent me a replacement.

This replacement, brand new, I haven't installed anything or tampered with it, tried it out and no incoming call alert on this one either, which makes me think the S740 is a little dodgy in this area.

Can anyone shed any light on this please?

Never tried or noticed it but I will. There was something similar with the imate sp5m I had years ago IIRC fixed with a rom update.
