Hi all...

I'll get right to the point...

I've first flashed my omnia with the DXHK3 rom (VMware, Virtual XP system)... No problem at all, worked like a charm... Then I was interested in the Manilla2D theme from Qbus, so I downloaded the rom, installed it...

I got to the point where i got the download failure, Port create failed, PHONEUSB detect failed etc etc. I take it ost of you know what the problem is... The phone (radio) part doesn't work anymore, PDA works (i can see the manilla theme, and use most features of the PDA)...

I tried using the official DXIA5 rom, same problem... With every update I try, it's gives the same failure... I tried reinstalling Activesync, the Samsung XP drivers, but I not getting through... I tried using Grand Prix, but also to no avail...

I'm using VMware on my Vista PC, b/c I don't have XP on it... I tried creating multiple Virtual PC's in VMware, but still no luck...

So as you can see, I'm stuck, not knowing what to try next... I've checked this forum, the XDA forum, but I can't find a concrete, for sure answer to my problem...

Also, It's a Vodafone branded Omnia, it had the old ARGH5 rom at first, and like I said before, was succesfully flashed to DXHK3... I might not even get to send it to a Samsung Service Center, as I probably voided my warranty with the first DXHK3 flash I did...

Please, if anyone could help, I'll be very gratefull to you... Please help a fellow Omnia user get his Omnia back!!!
Thanks in advance...

Try to flash with a non-VM windows xp sp3. :(

Most probably there are some conflicts with VM thats why you cannot proceed with USB drivers or switching between the real OS and VM OS.

If you like my work buy me a beer :) !

I''ll try that when I get the chance... but should it matter??? Cause the first time I flashed it the same way (VMware Windows XP) and it worked...???

Try using flashing back to an official Samsung ROM.

Alternatively try using a MLI file to re-flash.

and if you find a WWE MLI let me know :(

I use VM ware as well on my Vista PC to flash and everything works great.

The error you received is a normal error that occurs when you flash for the first time on any machine. because the updater is trying to find the samsung modem drivers, but stops before actually finding it (patience is a virtue)

Make sure you have the samsung modem drivers installed and flash again with the same firmware.
First time you'll receive the error, second time both PDA and Phone update.

Most important thing!!!: make sure samsung modem drivers are installed. And flash again when you receive the error

Sorry to be unable to help you now because mine was not a branded phone. I've heard similar issues of flashing a branded one. Somewhere said in this ROM forum, a branded phone should be flashed with a specific official ROM in order to upgrade later. Which official ROM version that I don't know but you can search around. But like somebody else said earlier, be patient and make sure that there is no shortcut to flashing (not blaming you but I was very careful everytime doing this, 2nd time so far).

Just hang in there someone sure will come up with a solution but you can continue searching for it.

I had exactly the same problem with mine - only option was to send it to Samsung Service Centre.  If you're worried about lack of official rom then you should be able to flash an 'official' rom using Grand Prix (I think - I am sure this is what I did!) - the radio will still fail but doesn't matter.

I tried everything to get mine to work with no luck so I think waiting will be a waste of time.

Just some information:
My fiancée offered me a Samsung Omnia (knowing I was dreamimg of it, talking about it all the time...) It was branded (network lock).

First, I unlocked it (google it, you'll get the code and the procedure, very easy and go to wikipedia for your CSC number).

Second, I tried to update it with the official ROM, was said by the updater that my software version was already the last one.

Then I tried to flash with vista (newbie error number 1), phone was not recognized. Willing above all to flash this phone to have an english ROM (original was german),

I then decided to go to a internet cafe equiped with XP sp3 (I did SAVE all my data by syncing my phone), downloaded the ROM, UNPLUGGED all USB connections (thanks God the internet was provided via a LAN connection), did a HARD RESET, installed samsung drivers (even twice!), downloaded SHKKA14M and then flashed it. Worked like a charm.

Now I have a subnetbook (EEE Pc type) with XP sp3, which i only use to flash my phone, and I keep on synchronizing with vista because of my contacts.
Hope it will help you.

That won't help because it requires a working phone element.  If you read the OP, the phone doesn't work, so the phone keypad commands don't work.
