If you simply want the raw long/lat then your best bet is probably the HTCGPSTool. This is normally easily found via a search of xda-developers but the site seems to be down at the moment.

I alway use HTC GPS Tool and it's very quick to get a fix after using this small app. Most cooked ROMs now have this app installed.
