Samsung original ROM type but with 6.5?

I know there are a lot of cooks in the kitchen these days doing all sort of cool tricks adding and subtracting and what not but, there are a few of us that actually don't mind the phone the way it came basically. Sure some apps are just stupid, like the built in media player that libraries all your ringtones (just plain stupid there) but we would like the chance to move up to the latest fancy OS. I would love to flash and have 6.5 on my handset but with basically the configuration of apps that came with the original ROM. Anyone doing anything like this? not a Lite, not a Modded, just a regular clone of the old ROM but with the 6.5 OS under it?

I love to hear about the work you are all doing but I need stability and I'll take the comfort (ill founded though it may be) over the chance that it's been cooked up correctly. Like someone else mentioned a long time ago... if you have to run a business with your phone, why would you want to screw with it? That's why I think we would like the basic original setup but the newer OS.

Let me know. I and a few others will likely be following this thread.

It is darn near impossible to make a complete stock ROM and move you to WM6.5. The reason is because we do not have access to the customer_csc from our device. This has some info in it about widgets and ROM numbering and a few other things.

The second issue would be the size of the ROM. It would be huge, somewhere in the neighborhood of 140MB. This makes uploading difficult as most free upload sites don't allow over 100MB uploads.

Third, you have pretty much contradicted yourself by saying that the stock ROM is stable and cooked ROMs aren't but you want a cooked stock ROM. Doesn't really make sense.

Most if not all of the WM6.5 ROMs that are available are pretty stable but if you are truly that worried about it then you should stay right where you are.

Wozzer has a WinMo 6.5 "Stock" ROM that has very little, if any apps, removed. I'd give that a shot, because its as close as you are going to get :D

Yea if you run your biz with your phone you might as well not try the ROM updates because there are glitches but they are really minimal right now. I personally use my phone for biz but i'm in IT and I have everything setup where I can easily get everything back on after each firmware upgrade.

All good ideas folks. With the new "release" for the TP, I think I may wait out the official version. Not that I don't think the cooked ROMs are stable really (maybe I phrased that wrong) but that there may be some minor bug that hasn't been found yet that would be just my luck to run into and it would break something or other.

One of the big things for me is finding all the interdependencies. Stuff like making sure a call to a web browser doesn't call a non functioning browser or something like that. Also, I like the majority of the standard menus and such. Call me crazy but I actually like the widget thingy. It makes my phone stand out a bit from my old PDA running WinMo. Granted most menu systems are more customizable but I just like starting with the oem goodies. I will agree there are several things that could be left out but I like much of the current functionality. I'll check out the list of ROMs and see what's there. Basically, I don't mind if folks remove stuff but if I want something added, I'll do that part. Maybe a lite but fully operational ROM is what is needed for me.

Standing by to see what the future brings. The best news, I'm sure when the actual 6.5 comes out, we'll have some of the most up to date functionality around thanks to the cooks. My hats off.
