HI there

I have 2 newbie questions about the HTC Diamond Touch - I hope that someone can help me out:

1) I like to talk to people using the headset however when the headset is connect and the phone rings, it only rings in the headset and if I am not wearing the headset I can't hear the ringing. If I disconnect the headset the phone rings like normal but then I have disconnect and reconnect the headset between calls.

2) Music Volume: How can I adjust the music volume? I have been using the volume up and down buttons on the side of the phone but even with the volume set to the lowest it's still too loud. I need to fine tune the music volume somehow.

When the headset is plugged in, you will not get any sound coming from the phone - that is the point of the headset.

The headset has a volume control on it, where the plastic blob where the silver button and microphone are located - try adjusting it there.

My phone rings in the headset AND the phone itself when headphones are plugged in.  This is using normal headphones with a mini usb adaptor rather than the normal headset - I don't know if this makes a difference.

The volume slider in TF3D is a bit rubbish in my opinion - it steps too much at a time and it's fiddly to set a volume in-between the steps.  The touchflo music player (which I assume you're using) doesn't have it's own volume control either which doesn't help.  Some other media players have their own volume controls which allow for fine-tuning of the volume, but I've yet to find one that offers sound quality comparable to that of the touchflo player with its audio booster.

I've just tried the same thing and mine definitely rings even when the headphones are in. I have mine set to ring & vibrate if that helps? Can't imagine this is a difference with a DK rom, assuming that is what you have, although anything's possible

As for the volume, you  should typically have a small volume wheel on your standard headphones, a s/w control level if using WMP (the T3D player doesn't seem to have one) and finally the main up/down buttons. Be careful to ensure you have the correct "System" tab selected to effect the music voume. If the "Ring" tab is selected you are only changing the ring volume (perhaps not suprisingly). This latter one has caught me out before!

I'm using the supplied headset, and it doesn't ring the main speaker for me ever.  Am surprised that the phone itself would ever ring if a headset was plugged in, as it would kind defeat part of the purpose of the headset (in my mind at least).  It will still vibrate and flash, but I would not expect any actual ringtone to come from the phone itself whilst the headset was plugged in.

If your adapter just supplies headphones and no microphone connection, then I can see how the phone might ring the speaker too (never used one myself).

Ditto. With the supplied headset plugged in it doesn't ring on the speaker, which I'd also expect.
