Check your firewall settings, and see if the device is being identified in Device manager on the PC.

I know someone who has to reset their firewall every time it does a system update, it seems to forget that the device is ok and blocks it.

It's unlikely to be a driver issue.

OK the pc doesn't have the omnia in the device manager also ! the icon of the battery doesn't change to the charging one . should the pc recognize the phone to charge it or what , of course I restarted the pc dozen of times and hard reset the phone 2 times.

any Ideas

in my case windows can't even see the device and there is no sound from the pc telling that a new device added ! same thing on Xp ! really really strange . could it be a fault in the storage . how could i fromat it not from the phone hard reset option.

Settle down squirley..

Go to settings - Connections - USB Connection and change it to mass storage: My Storage, and THEN connect it to the computer. A new drive should come up as a hard driver or removable disk. If it does, great!

Disconnect, and go back into USB connection settings and change it back to activesync and reconnect to the computer. If you're on Win7, Activesync should start syncing. If there's no connection, type "Windows mobile device center" into the start menu and hit enter to open or install MDC if it hasn't been yet. After this you should be able to charge and sync normally.

If for some reason the drive isn't recognized under mass storage mode, does your phone charge through a wall outlet? If it doesn't, chances are your port is bad.

The pc doesn't even give me the sound that a new hardware device detected. it just nothing happened , my phone charge fine through the wall outlet and the handfree works well also ! just the data cable I tried today changing the cable with another one and tried it on a laptop and the same ! nothing i feel it may be the rom :@ but I'm nowhopes to changeto any rom as there in is no data cable connection with my phone ! reall really bad issue and the worst it feels like i'm the first to face it !

any suggestion would be great ! should I try to repair it myself or give to somebody who will 99% ruin something else !

Did you actually try what I suggested?

Try that.. If still not working, try taking a stylus or pen and pressing in the reset button next to the power button and hold it for 30 seconds, then repeat..

If it's still not working after that, I'd just take it to wherever you bought it from for an exchange.

what do you mean by repeat should I leave theomnia boot and repeat or just after 30 seconds get the stylus out for 1 second and press the reset button again for 30 seconds !

this is an issue with the omnia,, happens to me as well, all u have to do is go to the setting tab, connections and usb to pc and disable the advanced network functionality. then connect ur omnia via usb then it will sync and be recognised.

No, I mean push in the reset button for 30 seconds, then repeat the steps I posted before.

the solution u posted might be viable if there is a problem with the computer,, but unfortunately this is an issue with the omnia and it is occuring with the latest ROMS.

soft resetting a thousands times wont really help, its all abt the drivers for the networking on the omnia.

I have exactly the same problem as yts17.

I tried every method mentioned here: Hardware reset / software reset / unselecting advanced features etc but no use :)

I here the beep from the PHONE when plugging the cable but no reaction whatsoever from the PC. I am upset because I bought this phone from a guy who said there are no problems with the phone, 3 days ago.

Any lucck with the problem, yts17 ?

i had the same issue and it turned out to be the cable. i had bought a few spare cables from memory bits and they charge the phone, but i couldnt connect. changed to my original samsung cable and all is good again.

Interesting, in your case, with the spare cables, did the charging symbol appear on the phone's display ?

On my phone's nothing appears on the display, but the phone gets almost hot in 15 minutes.. I don't really know if it really charges from USB or it just gets hot because I didn't let it longer.

I always charge from wall charger.

Hello, I was also experiencing same prob.

but all u have to do a hard reset first.

after that disable the usb to pc option in control panel - connection.

it works well now on me.

may be u check the same and get good hope..
