camera issues

Maybe it's just me but it seems that since I flashed my phone, the camera doesn't autofocus anymore. I thought it was the new camera.exe that renamed the files from series to date format, but I've gone back and reflashed and it's the same issue. When I hold the button down, the camera doesn't actually focus. Is anyone else having this problem, and is there a fix for it? I'd really appreciate it because the Omnia takes the best photos of any phone I've seen, and it's a shame that they're now not always in focus.

Try changing it from autofocus to Macro for objects close up, or using the auto-settings for landscapes, text, etc..

I've tried all the settings. I watch the picture and it doesn't actually focus. The little guide will change green or red as if it were trying to focus, but there's no focusing going on. I remember when I first got the phone how great the camera was and how it would focus on close objects really well, and now it doesn't do that at all. I guess I'm the only one having this problem.

Something is weird because I was just playing with it and it focused three or four times and then just stopped doing it. I tried a soft reset and it wouldn't focus. Obviously it is capable of doing so because it just did a couple of times, but something is preventing the camera from trying to focus. I have tried all the different settings, I haven't noticed anything making a difference.

I reflashed back to CC20 and it's the same thing, the camera doesn't focus. If I'm the only one having this issue, maybe it's a hardware problem? Since there's no way to flash back to the original Verizon firmware (is there?) I guess I'm SOL.

Sounds like a hardware issue. Deal with it for a few months, then when the Omnia II comes out go in and raise hell until they'll give you the Omnia II :D ;) :D lol

I'm assuming it's hardware, I called and they're sending me a new phone. Said I should have it Tuesday, so that's cool I guess. I dropped it once or twice, but I keep it in a silicone shell so there's been no noticeable damage done. I suppose I could have damaged the camera mechanism. Either way, new phone coming my way.

Good luck with the new phone. The old one will have cc20 on it, which means you're Verizon. And they might try to charge you for the phone if it doesn't have the stock ROM on it. I flashed to CC20 recently and have had no camera problems. Have you taken the phone apart at all, say to replace a digitizer? There could be a problem resulting from that. I just got a warranty replacement myself for my i910, and the new touch screen is incredible (check the sticky thread on mounting a new touch screen). Good luck.
