I just bought a tomtom one XL, and it uses a BT DUN connection through your phone for data
when I first set it up, I got a connection, great!
a few minutes later, I had no data connection on my phone and couldn't call... soft reset.
phone works, but I can't get a data connection for the tomtom anymore.  it pairs, but won't connect.

anyone know a workaround for this?

try using wm WiFi router over bluetooth? Otherwise I would give tom tom a call and see what they have to say.

tomtom doesn't support verizon phones, they aren't even an option in the setup process

I need a BT DUN connection, how does WMwifiRouter solve that?  my tomtom doesn't have wireless

Well, you should really take a look at wmwifirouter before assuming its just for wifi.

It also does BT connections.

ICS does BT connections as well.

I'm looking at it.. I must be missing something
I'm using 0.91 of wmwifirouter, I don't see any options for bluetooth, nor do I see it mentioned on their home page.

and the only option that ICS is giving me is a PAN network for bluetooth.
I have tried having both enabled and nothing works so far.

BT Pan works fine.  I tether my laptop to my phone all the time.

And yes, I am following you.

The 0.91 version is an old freeware version.  The real version is not free, doesnt require ICS to work, and has a ton more features.

ok, I was hoping I could do this without paying more money (having just purchased the tomtom and going on vaca next week)
I downloaded and installed the latest wmwifirouter, lets see what happens

still can't connect..
the tomtom prompts me for username and password, I use [email protected]/vzw and have tried both blank.....

when the tomtom tries to connect, the phone says waiting for connection, then the tomtom starts its thing, and WMR says connected, but the tomtom says unable to set up your wireless data connection, and WMR goes back to waiting for connection

it is paired.

You paid for Wmwifirouter without verifying it will work for you?

I can't help you there...


The idea of tethering with either ICS or the router app is that it works as a DHCP allocator...where the Omnia handles all the data connections, and assigns an IP address just like a real router does for clients.

TomTom isnt supposed to be connecting with the Verizon credentials.  That doesn't even sound like its setup right.  I cant verify that, obviously.

well, I the wireless part does work, and I use it, so supporting the cause is OK

the wierd thing, is right out of the box, I got it to work... then my phone lost all connection, data and voice, and after a soft reset, it worked, but I can't connect with the tomtom using the same settings.

With my old Samsung sch-u540, when I paired it to my laptop I had to use the name and password of qnc/qnc and #777 for dial out. I haven't tried that with the Omnia yet, but its worth a shot.

the tomtom isn't looking for a data connection, is wanting to use the phone as a modem and create it's own connection I think
