Upgraded to WM5 keep getting sms from towers

Hi all I hope someone can help, I upgraded to WM5 on my mpx200 everything is fine but on my home screen I get mobile tower information and a strength percent, also when I'm driving I keep getting sms's every time I go to a new area. Can this be turned off in the reg or is it a bug.
