After a small discussion in this topic I decided to test different user interface for the TG01...

  • Toshiba (built-in) :
    tg01toshiba1.th.png tg01toshiba2.th.png
    Almost unusable and, IMHO, ugly.
  • Orange (built-in Orange roms) :
    tg01orange1.th.png tg01orange2.th.png
Quite a good one but nearly unable to customize and orange color is, IMHO, ugly.
  • SPB Mobile Shell (screenshot provided by SinSilla because I haven't tested yet this commercial product) :
    screen03b.th.jpg
Seems to be great but costs nearly 30$...
  • PointUI Home2 :
    tg01home2pro1.th.png tg01home2pro2.th.png
Great product and Pro version is even better but costs about 20€...
  • Manila 2 (thanks to barny stumble, see his post below) :
    tg01manila2.th.png tg01manila1.th.png
Very fast !! but buggy (I'm investigating to get it work ok).
  • Winterface:
    tg01winterface.th.png
Don't even try this one... Kinda iphone but ugly... Not kidding : it costs $19.95 !!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Iphone today:
    tg01iphone1.th.png tg01iphone2.th.png
If you wish you had an iphone... no way for me... and a lot of configuration to do... but free ;)
  • More to come...

You can download a time-limited demo of the SPB Shell. I recommend you do, it is really good. Once you've tried it you won't think $30 is so much.

Cheers,

David.

Hi all, i just wanted to say that I have had the TG01 for about a week now, and I am impressed!! Coming from a Touch Pro, I expected much as that one was let down by the drivers for the graphics chip, but this machine?!!!

I tested it with Xtract for the Experia X1, and it flies along great, as does need for spped, (Shame there is no lanscape support though!! ;) ) I installed Route 66, and it found the sats in about ten seconds!!! Compared to about thirty seconds after tweaking the hell out of my Touch Pro, AND flashing upteen Roms to get it, (Because its fun, thats why!!).

Anyway, I have also tested SPBmobile, and can confirm that it flies along at a merry pace. But, I found Touch-IT_Blackstone_Manila_HD_FULL over at http://forum.xda-developers.com/index.php . This page has the link, you will need to be a member though!! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=442154 .Installed it, and its looking as good as I could have hoped! Its Fast, and has the TF3D skin. Unfortunatley, as its still a windows 6.5 OS, we dont get the nice finger friendly icons if we dig deeper.

But, overall, its well worth the install. I have included shots of each page for those that dont know what TF3D looks like.. :)

If you have any questions about TF3D, either PM me, or head over to XDA, they may not be activley writing stuff for it, but many of the apps and tweaks I used for my Touch Pro, work for the TG01.

Phew ! thats a long first post eh?.... :D ..... 8-)

Hi all,

Well I'm using SPM Mobile Shell 3.0 and find it's excellent and unlike from what I've just read about the Touch-IT_Blackstone_Manila_HD_FULL it works in Landscape to.There are quite a few screen shots in my review in this forum and i actually prefer it to what I've seen of WM6.5 also. But i suppose it's all just a matter preferences and what each of us likes the most.

Thanks a lot, I added this one to the first post !!! I am a member of XDADev for years since I had some HTC made devices...

There is some trouble though because the settings and the music tabs do not work on my TG01... Maybe because mine is in French (error message see screenshot below on music tab) :

Yes I'll dl the demo to try it... but 30$ is really too much when you know I had to wait nearly 6 monthes to get enough money to buy my TG01... ;D

I 2nd the motion.

SPB shell 3.0 is amazing - very responsive, customizable and most importantly usable. Seriously - I'm sure big ol' Microsoft could purchase that company for peanuts and have them do all their window apps. SPB apps are all pretty good in their own right too.

Now if only someone paid me to say that ...

I downloaded the first one but not the second... :D Thanks man :o

Will try ASAP but I needed a hard-reset so everything's gone for now :)

BTW : I added Winterface and Iphone Today to the first post. Screenshot taken before hard-reset...

Hi, i installed both but am still getting the same error. Where does TF3D look for this app? Its in \windows\program files\audio manager on my device.

Edit:

Fixed it, needed a different version of audio manager.

The phone dialer does not work in SPB mobile shell. It's annoying that when you need to dial a quick number which is not in your contact list.

I have to manually go to programs to find the phone dialer program.

Is there any solutions to this? Or perhaps can put the shortcut on the main professional layout. I mean maybe we can customise the professional layout.

Hi there, did you check that it is selected TF3D as your home screen in today settings? Have a look to make sure its ticked, as it sounds like the TG01 Toshiba is still selected.

I hope that helps. ;) ;) :)

It's not the definitive solution , just a runabout , but if you tap on the Incoming Items icons (Email or SMS and MMS) it opens the Emails screen or the SMS screen and there you have the phone icons to call as you want..

I´ve got a strange problem.

I was trying to install the Manila Interface after i did my hard reset (before the hard reset i had it running and it installed without any problems).

Now im getting the message "can´t install due to missing security certificate..."

Why is that? I even tried the tool Advanced Config where i could disable it, but even after that it still says the certificate is missing.

Help!

€: Solved, the file seemed to be corrupted... :)

Next question:

Would someone be so kind to share the links to the correct audio manager/OemDiamAudiomgr?

I found both files, but im still having the same problem. So obviously i chose the wrong files... ^^

€2:

Forget the above question, Manila is not running stable for me. Too many issues, at least for me. Only since i tried the Manila Interface i´ve ran into them, before everything worked just fine. Manila loads faster than my pin entry screen, wktask and g-alarm are crashing after each soft reset with manila installed. Too bad, i liked the overall experience.

Hiya,

I've just found a quick solution for it. Set the Toshiba motion sensor > Shake to Phone

So everytime, you want to dial a number just shake your phone. =)

hello all

considering this forum as the only place where people like tg01.., im loving it :D

Im considering tg01 for its amazing abilities but i really like the touchflo from HTC. As we can install the interface on Tg01, its no more a problem the consern though is, do we get the keyboard from touchflo3d or is it still default keyboard? i cant find any pictures anywhere. all i can find is the homescreen images. if some one has it installed please post some indepth pictures.

No, sorry the keyboard isn't part of the TF3D package. I haven't been able to get HTC keyboards working, but somebody more intelligent than me probably could.

I'm using finger keyboard 2, it's a nice alternative, take a look here, its on xda dev but it does work. If you want a phone pad style input check out the attached cab. its says vga but it works fine and IMO looks good.

TOSHIBA's Keyboard is quite good. I started using finger keyboard 2 (there is a skin for WVGA) because I used it on my previous device and, as leston2379 say it's a great free keyboard (better than resco, for instance) and works very well on TG01; nevertheless, at the end I've decided delete it and use the original TOSHIBA because they are very similar.

If you enable short vibration when a key is used , the feedback is very good

Best Regards
