Google Maps continually connects to my broadband connection, I'll hit disconnect and in a little bit it will start to connect again. Where do you think Google Maps gets the maps from? :) (It has to download them as it moves, hence why you see the "loading" when you first move your location. But then I didn't hear anyone complaining of it using bandwidth which for me defeats the purpose of GPS so then I thought it must have a built in map database or downloads maps for just the region or something. The $30/month data package allows up to 5GB of bandwidth, which google maps is NEVER going to come close to.. the map pieces are so tiny, and they are cached, too, so they aren't redownloaded. Correction.. verizon's $30/month data package is unlimited.. there is no limit.. I"ve used way more than the 5gb and not been charged and their corporate office also says it's unlimited too... the one that is limited is the $20 package that only allows for 1.5gb of usage, unless verizon has changed their plans since I got my phone in January of 2009... and if that's the case I will have to watch my usage... and I appologize for this post. Your exactly right $30/month Email & Web for Smartphone is unlimited KB usage. I don't know why but it seems everyone is referring to the $30/month Mobile Broadband Connect 5GB which is for tethering and is limited to 5GB, but your not tethering using your Omnia for GPS, Web, Email, TV, Etc. so it's UNLIMITED. MY plan is 30$ per month Email and Web for Smartphone, and there IS NO CAP. My account page SHOWS UNLIMITED. so you might want to revise your statement there homey. Pictures attached. I have been assured more then once that I have unlimited access. Heck I jsut looked through my terms of service and they don't mention anything at all about a cap. Maybe I am lucky, I don't really know. But at the time of sale there was no mention of any type of capped access nor does it seem to appear in any of my online copies of my agreement. I don't have any paper work persay, I am paperless, and I added the feature after initial activation, so I didn't really get any new paper work. The term homey has not been used under good terms with me in the past. I know what it refers to, but I've had it used as a condescending term as well. Let bygones be bygones. I've done some further research. Apparently there were unlimited plans, but they are now grandfathered. So new plans do have the cap. I'm not sure when the cutoff is/was. Guest awarner (MVP) Posted July 27, 2009 Report Share Posted July 27, 2009 ok now to let the dust settle a bit :) In the UK while some networks claim to have "unlimited data" they do hide in very small print a clause called "fair usage policy" which normally means if you keep going over a set ammount every month then your account may be revised. I have people at work who have unlimited and do not understand or aknowledge the fair usage, mainly because they never use that much data in the first place.
