System Slowdown

Well I've had another slow down\ lock up session with my TG01. ;)

I'm onto my third handset.

No.1 Battery Issues

No.2 Locking Up \ Freezing

It's happened before, as in the phone slows down so much as to be unusable. I was unable to even check some text messages I had received! Even after many soft restarts \ power downs, and even just pulling the battery out, I decided to uninstall the apps one by one, before doing a hard reset. So with my sim in my Touch Pro, I started on the uninstalls. First was SPB Mobile shell, dont know why, just as it was up the top, anyway did a restart, and ........ super speedy TG01 again????? Hmmm , so I ran some of the other apps still installed. They all ran fine? Ok, so the phone seems to be working fine WITHOUT SPB Mobile shell, Just to check, I thought, I had better put it back on and see what happens. So after another restart, I re-installed SPB, restored my settings (You did know you could back em up didnt you? ), and did a restart.

Still super speedy? WTF??? ;)

So, I cant say for sure, thats its anything to do with SPB, but the next time I have a slow down issue, before doing a hard reset, I'm gonna try the uninstall re-install of SPB.

I gotta remind you though, that this could just be a coincidence, and it was on my phone. So I'm not telling anyone to go uninstalling app from their phone :) ...

I'm hoping this is just down to my playing about too much on my phone, as this handset definetley delivers <_< . Lets hope WM 6.5 comes out soon, as on my Touch Pro, it makes WM 6.1 look sooooo old hat!!

Man, I know its a Windows Mobile, but do I have to pull my hair out like I do with XP, Vista, etc.....????

What did you installed exactly on your device ???

I sometimes had the same so we can cross check installed apps... for now I have nothing installed because I just did hard reset (due to bad bad testing of tf3D2.5).

Believe me. In your case, the only way is Backup>Hard Reset> Test. If all OK, its soft problem, not hard problem. Then reinstall step by step testing carefully to detect the problematic APP.

I suspect GPSGate to be the faulty one... This app has never been stable on my numerous PDAs ! I used to replace it with Port Splitter but this one does not work on TG01 :'(

With GPSGate you can deactivate instance (through settings, Advanced might need to be on), and then just use it when needed in GPS applications, otherwise keep it inactive. From the default Today screen you can also exit the tray icon application. See if this helps, without uninstalling actually GPSGate as it is the only as you say TG01 compatible GPS gate.

A lot of TG01 users are using this APP, because is the only one that we have found capable of redirect the internal GPS port. Without it, TOM TOM and IGo are useless. So, I believe that if it was a problem. it would be public and well known. Think that in Spain we already have a long backup history with this device (since June)

I know exactly what you are talking about because I used to have the same problem.

I am almost 99% sure it's the application(s) you installed causing the slow down and freeze of your device.

I also have GPSGate installed but it causes me no trouble.

What I did to solve my problem is do a Master Clear (reset your device) and reinstall your apps one by one untill you find the guilty culprits. And don't forget to backup after every suscessful installation, it will save you loads of time. Sometimes, you may need to power up and down your phone for several time before a newly installed app to run smoothly on tg01, well, that's my case anyway. If after several power cycle and your phone still runs slowly then uninstall whatever you just installed and never use it again.

As of today I have 20 apps installed on my device and still running very fast and smoothly. TG01 seems to be imcompatible with a lot of applicaitons but once you find what is working for the device, it rocks!

off topic here, I installed MemMaid yesterday and optimise my tg01 to "extreme speed" and it did seems to speed up the device even more. I don't know if it is my wishful thinking or not, but now everything seems to happen at the same instance at pressing the program icon.
