Album/Music player not seeing new files when using A2SD

Hi there

Before starting using A2SD/APP2SD, which is included in the great MoDaCo custom ROMs (currently using 1.5.1)

when I wanted to add something (like music or wallpapers for the home screen) on my phone I did the following steps:

1. Attached the phone to the computer

2. I mounted it on the phone so windows could see it.

3. Copied the files on to the SD card, music went into the MP3 folder, and wallpapers in a folder named wallpapers (one I created myself) at the root of the SD card

4. When I was done adding stuff I simply just unmounted it again on the phone.

5. The phone then said it was preparing the SD card.

And everything was just dandy... meaning the music player could see my newly added music and the album explorer under home screen wallpaper change could see my newly added wallpapers, including those in the wallpapers folder in the roor on the SD card.

But since I'm using A2SD I can't mount the SD card anymore on the phone so windows can see it, for good reasons.

So I have to user another method of transferring files to the SD card.

Which leaves me with the following options:

1. Turn off the phone and put the SD card in a card reader on the PC and when done put the card back into the phone and turn on the phone

2. Use the "adb push" command so 'upload' files to the SD card

3. Use a widget called "Dual Mount SD Widget" aka "SD Share"

I found the widget on the AndroidMarket, and basically makes it possible to mount the card so windows can see it and still allow the phone full access to the SD card, so no problems should ocure.

I've tried all methods and non of them works... :-(

The phone never notice the new wallpapers or music files.

I can see the files using a file manager but the photo album widget and music player can see them.

It's like the 'preparing SD card' step mentioned earlier read through the card to see what was added and removed and updated something

in the phone...I don't know. Is there a way to initiate the 'preparing SD card' step ? Or what am I doing wrong ?

Cheers

Have you tried Settings -> SD card and phone storage -> Unmount SD card, and then remounting it?

I had similar problems when I used the adb push command without using a2sd, but it seemed to find the files after a while. It might have included a reboot too, I'm not sure. This was actually on a stock ROM, I just had trouble getting the USB Storage working on Windows 2008 Server.
