As a matter of fact, there's a similar service available now which works similar but offers even more features: Waze. It's a free turn-by-turn GPS app that uses crowd sourcing to detect real time traffic conditions. Map and traffic updates are automatically collected and generated as users drive with Waze activated, but drivers can also actively report and update other users with what's happening on the road including accident alerts, police traps, weather hazards, cheap gas offers and more. So Waze is already available for Iphone and Android. The developers have announced an upcoming alpha for Windows Mobile. At present it looks like US users only. I've been using it for months .. its cool .. with real time traffic condition ... police cars... cameras and stuff .. its so cool .. and opened source... and it has the ability to update the map ! From the website: Waze is a social mobile application providing free turn-by-turn navigation based on the live conditions of the road. 100% powered by users, the more you drive, the better it gets. Join the community of drivers in your area today! More WinMo users are needed so that the developers will put as much effort into bringing the WinMo version along as they are putting into the iPhone and Android versions. Check it out www.waze.com. In my experience the 1.4.2.3. version is fairly stable on my Samsung Omnia. The 1.5.x.x. version is less so. It takes driving around for several days with the app running to learn your routes.
