I want to get a netbook for my work and would like to surf on the internet when I'm on public transports, but I don't know much about netbooks, I wonder if you guys could have any recommendations to me please? Which one should I choose? Sony? Samsung? Fujitsu? And where can I buy it for a good price?

Welcome to the site :)

First where are you located? second what sort of budget are you looking at to spen on the new netbook?

Most are fairly similar specification wise it's the screen size and what OS you want.

Personally, I like Sony the most, go get it and compare the price here: http://shopping.yahoo.com/s:Laptops:156638...4168-Brand=sony

Or, if you believe your luck, you can consider join the Lucky Draw competition and get the Sony W netbook here for totally FREE: http://www.dsstyles.com/

Hi,

Just to follow up, i bought the Sony VPCW12S1E (W Series) netbook back in January, as i wanted to upgrade from the 8.9" screen of my Aspire One.

Overall thoughts of the device are.

Keyboard - Very Poorly designed and layed out, its alright to type on however not as good as the Samsung NC10 or the Toshiba netbooks.

TrackPad - Good, nice and large.

Screen - great! nice high res 1366x768 display clear and bright. best feature of the device.

Connectivity - its all there, wifi (N) ethernet etc. NO HDMI and only TWO USB ports. Looks like one USB port was taken up for a Sony Memory stick reader. NB it comes with a SD (multi card) reader, and a secondary Sony Memory Stick reader.

Camera - 0.3Mp, its alright not great.

Storage - excellent, 250Gb drive.

Ram - comes preinstalled with 1Gb, to upgrade you have to rip the machine apart, and pop out the keyboard. Bad SONY.

Software - Win7 starter (was only on there 10minutes before upgraded to Win7 Ultimate)

Sony software- all useless, was removed.

Battery life - 4hrs on a 6 cell battery.

General System Performance, its noticeably slower that my Aspire One (A150) running Win7!!!!

Overall Recommendation.

Skip it and get a Samsung or Toshiba.
