Guest tacchan23
I've made some tests to compare RAM usage/problems with some of the latest ROMs... dunno if they can make sense for some of the experts here. Or could you suggest any more meaningfull tests I could perform? Khuanchai Lite ROM based on L2 1) No apps installed, 86mb free ram after boot: not tested yet 2) just a couple of apps installed (SPB ms, S2U2, Spam alert), about 70mb free ram on boot: - I can open about 6-7 applications untill free ram is about 55mb, then they start closing 3) my standard install after a flash, about 57mb free ram on boot: - I can open just 2-3 application untill free ram is about 55mb, then they start closing (can't manage to open more than 3 apps at the same time, often not more than 2) Result: apps start closing when free memory is about 55mb, regardless of the number of apps opened i8000NXXIL2 I get the same results as above. RDF ultralite rom based on K5 1) No apps installed, 89mb free ram after boot: I can open about 17-18 applications, they start closing when I open more than that even if the free ram is still 66+mb 2) just a couple of apps installed (SPB ms, S2U2, Spam alert), 72mb free ram after boot: - I can open about 11-12 light applications, they start closing when I open more than that even if the free ram is still 66+mb - I can open about 11-12 applications (some of them more heavy) to brig down the ram to about 50mb, more than that they start closing 3) my standard install after a flash, about 61mb free ram on boot: - I can open about 6-7 light applications untill free ram is about 55mb, then they start closing - I can open about 6-7 applications (some of them more heavy) to brig down the ram to about 40mb, then they start closing Result: there seems to be something related to the number of apps open and not only of free ram available Conclusions There is not much difference between Khuanchai and Rodrigo free ram on boot (just 2-3mb), but (at least for me) I seem to have better result at multitasking with the Rodrigo rom. Maybe Rodrigo did something in particular about ram management to cook his rom? or maybe it's becouse of the IK5/IL2 differences?
Guest Wilson@China
From my understanding, the "auto-close" always happened while gwes.exe memory usage >20MB. No matter how many free memory left. So how many applications can keep running at the same depends on what's the contribution to increase gwes.exe memory usage of each application.
