It's difficult to draw conclusions as the results everyone are getting are wildly different. For me at least, the filesystem benchmark is low after boot but high after killing most running tasks. Maybe I have a particular app that affects the filesystem benchmark.

Hey, may it be the same app that makes you blame sluggishness on compcache ? ;-)

I've never blamed compcache, I've questioned if it could be interfering with the standard memory management behaviour :)

yep, exactly...don't think this benchmark is consistent enough to rely on in order to rate MCR builds...

But it seems like filesystem jumps between ~12 and ~35. I just ran the benchmark twice, and got 11.something first, killed (with Advance Task Manager) a lot of apps, got 35 the second time...

BTW with MCR 3.1 RC2 my Hero is flying so fast I don't even know if I can handle it anymore!! ;-)

Seems Paul has found a software way to upgrade the CPU to a mighty 1Ghz snapdragon or even a ARM Cortex A9! :-)

[EDIT] BTW there is an MCR settings app on its way that will allow to control and toggle compcache from UI and in runtime without rebooting !

As with any benchmark, it's probably important to run several times. My filesystem score there is an average of 3 runs. Change bench options in the menu.

I think I'm getting very consistent results. Here's how I've done it.

1)Disable Auto backlight + screen timeout set to "Never timeout" so that benchmark tests run without any user interaction (usual in any kind of benchmark tests) like touching screen or playing with trackball.

2)On Benchmark setting put value=0 to all except "graphics group"

3)On Benchmark setting put value=5 to "graphics group"

4)Run benchmark. Leave phone aside. Note down the result. Repeat 2 more times.

Edited:5)Press back button to go home screen. Start Benchmark app again.

6)Repeat steps 2-4 for "CPU" and "memory" groups.

Here's the result:
