Nexus One trackball LED colors

It seems that the Android 2.1 build installed on the Nexus One ignores settings set by 3rd party applications to flash the LED in different colors/different flash patterns. Although the hardware is capable of doing it and the SDK allows that as well.

Here are some colors that are possible if you got root access (which normal users normally don't have):

It would be nice if some of you who like reasonable silent alarms could support the following issue thread:

Personally I don't no why Google is limiting these possibilities for 3rd party developers. Internal applications still have access to control the LED completly.

As echoed on other less-reactive corners of the Internet, the general view is that it was an oversight, or rush. I'm sure it will be fixed in the next kernel update.

Just like the usage of all 512MB RAM is currently 'disabled' - its purely a coding issue which Google would have no reason to not fix.

Have faith :)

I don't believe this since this kind of thing disappeared in a lot of devices from HTC.

I think HTC need to hire some additional talent to get on top of their handware...they never fully utilize their own handset, not even close to what Paul and the guys are capable of doing in the custom ROM...

give google a bit of time perhaps there will be an improvement from their mobile Lab thing...
