UK Official ROM

Hi, am due to take delivery of my Omnia II in a few days time and have read on the Samsung support site that all UK versions of the phone are shipped with WinMo 6.5 on them.

Is this true and if so how good is the rom compared to the latest one posted here by Secany's JA1, are there significant advantages to upgrade to JA1??

If I decide to upgrade using Octans Mini do you guys recommend updating just the PDA or both PDA and CSC.

Any advice is appreciated

Thanks :)

Hi. I bought my Omnia II just before Xmas. It came with 6.5 installed (II9). I have upgraded to Secany's latest (JA1) which is working fine, but there isn't much difference to the ROM my device was shipped with (but any change is good for me)... a few changes to the settings menus, additional text under tab headings, not a lot really, but I always HAVE to have the latest ROM available!!

As for flashing, I use Octans Mini, and only flash the PDA part. I have no issues at all with the GSM radio, so I can't see the point of updating that :)

Thanks for the reply, I too am of the same way of thinking and need to have the latest rom. Will flash to JA1 on receiving my phone. So is there any need to flash the csc part as well???

I got O2 with IJC and flash to L5 FW make many good differents. Youtube player, other setting menu, no freeze and so. Secany's FW are safe, I flash PDA and CSC only.

It's worth to update. I took my phone with firmware JC and changed it to A1 and I can't recognize my phone. It runs far smoother and faster even with the original Samsung Widgets /personally I'm not isung them/.

As far as I understand (but I'm new to Samsung, all my other devices have been HTC), you only need to flash CSC if you want other languages - other than English I mean. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong. I've tried a few different ROM's from this forum and only flashed PDA everytime - everything works sweet this way. I never flash more than is necessary, if just PDA works as it does for me, I'll stick with that. May be others need to flash CSC and eBoot and Phone, etc... :)

Thanks for the replies guys...should be taking delivery tomorrow so will check out what rom is on there first...and then flash just the pda part of JA1 with Octans Mini anyway :)

I've too come from HTC device so this way seems far simpler than having to Hard SPL and then flash the rom a la HTC.

Looking forward to trying out the Omnia II, I think it's going to be a cracker :)
