Just out of intrest have you thought about looking into putting your netbook into "Wireless Access Point" mode, some wireless cards allow you todo it. Basically means that your phone will see the PC like router, not sure if it is possible with your set up but its worth researching.

Just out of intrest have you thought about looking into putting your netbook into "Wireless Access Point" mode, some wireless cards allow your todo it. Basically means that your phone will see the PC like router, not sure if it is possible with your set up but its worth researching.

But that not enough, boz I have the 3G unlimited date SIM in my Nokia N82 and using the Joikuspot share thr 3G network to my 2 notebook and iPod. However, I can't connect my N1 to N82 since my N82 using the AD HOC sharing 3G data.

Ahh ok, Are you sure your network is adhoc, because according to what I read about Jokiuspot the Nokia N82 acts like a wireless router.

If its a /true/ adhoc network then you can connect just fine with an N1. But, your n82 doesnt seem to be creating a real Adhoc network, but rather a proprietary ad hoc stream

N1 Doesn't connect to any ad-hoc network. can u network it & use your laptop internet from N1? how?

Adding your ad-hoc SSID in Settings->Wireless & Network, then do the following modification in data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf:

1)Add

ap_scan=2

at the beginning.

2)Locate the "network" section corresponded to your ad-hoc network, add "mode=1" in that section.

3)If the previous two steps don't solve the problem, try adjust the priority of the ad-hoc network to the highest: make sure "priority=1" in its network section, and modify other sections' priorities sequentially.

It works for me!

do you know what tool to use in order to edit such types of files? is there an editor directly to use on the N1, or is it necessary to copy it to SD -> edit on PC?

when in 'adb shell' there is 'vi' by default. but its kind of hard to use.

vi /path/to/file, navigate with 'h' (left), 'j' (down), 'k' (up), 'l' (right), enter editing mode when at the appropriate position with 'i', write whatever you want and go back to view-mode with esc. repeat until finished. then, in view-mode enter :wq (there will be a prompt at the bottom after entering the : w = write, q = quit). done. easy huh?

or you can always do

adb pull /path/to/file .

your-favorite-editor file

adb push file /path/to/file

thanx alot, xkonni. i thought there would be an easier way too... :D like a GUI editor in which i could do all that. anyway, good to know.

since then, i've flashed CMb5 and the Ad-hoc WiFi problem is solved. i can connect without any problems :D

a little vi-knowledge can be a life-saver in some situations... its available almost anywhere... routers etc...

I'm able to discover and connect to the ad hoc network I'm creating with my iPhone using Cyanogen's latest CM 5.02 ROM.

Doesn't work for me. Now N1 can find ad-hoc network but can't connect to it.

I'm using MCR 1.6.

Can't find any ad-hoc networks with my Nexus One either.

Manually entered ones show as not in range.

They are legit, as iPhones and laptop can see each other.

Cyanogen and MCR both have the same wpa_supplicant.conf file. This is it:

Your instructions don't fit into that scheme (there's no network section even after manually adding the ad-hoc network).

Changing to ap_scan=2 alone doesn't help.

I, then, disabled WiFi (dunno if it's necessary) but was thinking that I'll be writing into a WiFi config file, so the service should be off.

then, since there is no file editor on Android (some1 please prove me wrong here because vi is really a stone age tool), you go and edit the wpa_supplicant.conf file via the vi command's functionalities:

- trackball works, so that way you can point your cursor

- "i" for inserting text (I've added "ap_scan=2" in the 1st line, and then "mode=1" in a new line below the password line)

- trackball + "1" = ESC

- then press ":" to put you to the end of the file

- then enter "wq" to save the edited text.

It works fine. I even disconnected and reconnected again - all works like a charm.
