Hi paul.. peoples a already doing this .. but they seems still stuck on how to remove the signature problem.. here is there dev page..http://and-developers.com/motorola_milestone , maybe u wanna join there mIRC #milestone-modding on freenod.. i really hope u join there coversation..

Yes, the Motorola Droid Recovery image steps via Sholes does not currently support the Motorola Milestone. I've confirmed this, so, need to find a successful recovery image for Milestone!
Thanks, In the mean time will be searching.
