I have an opportunity to add to my smartphone collection a Motorola Q9m, was thinking this might be a good 'beater' phone (I switch phones depending on what I am doing and this would be good for when breaking the phone is a possibility). But I am just curious what options are out there... or WERE since it's an old school device... to cook up or load up cooked ROMs?

A physical QWERTY smartphone like this would make a nice addition to my collection but not sure if I should even bother. Any suggestion or links out there?

I am on Verizon and the phone is same so I could just use it stock. Anyone have this phone? Is it even worth my time?
