As the title says is there a way to backup the CSC and Phone parts before we flash incase something goes wrong. i wanna flash csc on my locked bell omnia 2 i8000L. but not sure what might happen, i have bell preconfigured thing like network for 3g etc and do not want to lose it. People say it just enough to flash the PDA for i8000L users so do i need to flash any thing?

I did notice a difference between JA1 and JA3 like people have said and maybe thats coz i didn't flash CSC???

so everything works as normal all the gps and data stuff still work? and are they still configured from bell like do all the settings get put in place like the stock?

What about the start up and shutdown animations are they still there like the bell logo and the charge animation when phone is off?

which csc/ settings did you use?

Yes everything works well, from that CSC i extract just I8000SMOJA5 ( it is for Serbia wher i am), and no more bell logo when start up and shut down, now is samsung mobile logo, wifi, gps everything works, charged animation is same as always that battery.

I just bought unlocked phone here in serbia and i see it was from bell.

I also would like to have a back up of the Bell i8000L Phone.bin and CSC file should anything go wrong after flashing. I am still on the stock ROM so if somebody can guide me on how to dump/extract those files I'll be happy to do that and post the files on here

well i have a dump of the pda my self and it has been uploaded a few times here. I just don't know how to backup the phone, csc and maybe even eboot. Secany is gives us links for them so i'm sure there is a way.

Any other bell users here flash the CSC or any other part with it being locked? Any word on getting it unlocked besides paying bell to do it?

I've been hearing that Bell is the only ones that do the unlocking of the phones... They charge $70 or so to unlock it, and I'm pretty sure that Samsung doesn't provide those unlock codes either. But then again, the whole unlocking business is new for Bell, so IMO, your best bet is to wait a bit until someone finds a way to unlock the phone without the need for Bell.

I would like to know what are exact diferent with i8000 and i8000L , what we can lose if we flash phone?

if someone have an omnia II just to try to flash with all parts ( PDA, CSC, Phone and eboot) maybe it is way to unlock phone.

I was also little scared to flash CSC but i read several time about CSC and it is little tricky writen here on guide, but if you read well it says that we can flash CSC and PDA but not phone and eboot part.

FYI

Ok...... so I was too curious for my own good. At the risk of bricking my i8000L, I flashed my Bell phone with the XUEJA5.csc. My goal was trying to see if flashing the CSC file would unlock the Phone. It did not. The CSC file also contains the preconfigured internet settings, and so the phone tried to connect to the UK T-Mobile network. No panic though. I installed and ran the ADC.cab which cleared out preconfigured internet settings and allowed the phone to automatically detect the SIM card (with Rebel SIM) and autoconfigured the internet settings back to AT&T. Phone still says "network lock" when I have the SIM card in it without the Rebel Sim, but I got rid of the Bell splash screen etc. The ADC cab should also work for the Bell network settings

So ....there has to be a way to make an "open market" CSC file that contains the same thing as the ADC.cab allowing the phone to detect the network as per the SIM card and autoconfigure the internet settings.

ahh i see so it worked for you and restored your settings using ADC which is good news. I might give it a shot but the phone is still to new for me to start messing with it. If a bell customer can try and let me know that there 3g, phone etc are all working even after flashing CSC.

My main goal is so that i can update via NPS unless that uses the eboot which i will not flash until i know its safe for us i8000L
