HTC are sticking to the diamond series, and are preparing the HTC Diamond 3, internally known as the Obsession.

The rumored specs for the device are:-

* CPU: Qualcomm QSD8250; 1GHz
* GSM HSDPA
* Device Size: 112 x 56 x 11.7 mm
* Memory (RAM/ROM): 512MB/512MB
* Internal Storage: 4GB
* External Storage: MicroSD (up to 32GB)
* Screen Size/Type: 3.7-inch capacitive AMOLED “Multitouch Supported”
* Camera: 5.0 Megapixel AF with flash; HD 720p video@ 25fps
* Video Support: Windows Media Video (WMV), MPEG-4 (MP4/M4V) H.264, DVR-MS4
* Audio Support: Windows Media Audio (WMA), Advanced Audio Coding (AAC-LC), FairPlay DRM, MP3 (.mp3)
* Battery: Removable 1230 mAh
* Talk Time: Up to 10 hours
* Standby Time: 240 hours
* Internet Use: 6 hours (3G), 7.5 hours (WiFi)
* Video Playback: 7 hours
* Audio Playback: 24 hours

Depending on when this is set for release, it could see Windows Mobile 6.5.X, but I would really like to see it with Windows Mobile 7.

I've just switched to a Nexus One from my aged HTC Hermes, but put WM7 and a keyboard on this and I'd be tempted back.

from the picture it looksa bit like HTC touch HD  (only with d-pad and hardware buttons- even the front speaker and front camera are in the same place as HD's) :)

Don't touch your phone... Unless someone special is calling. (:

I would also add that it sports the "old" HTC logo, which was dropped some phones ago. Also  the browser looks like Chrome?!

The screen image looks like it is "simulated." The Diamond series is WinMo.

Pic looks a little odd to me. I would expect this device to be out late this year (November / December) to tie in with WM7.
Personally, I think Android would be a far better OS to use.

Those rumored specs look a bit dodgy to me, a 3.7" screen won't fit into that form factor, unless they've done something really fancy with the amount of material they need at the edges of the screen, its nearly 4mm narrower than the Nexus One

If that is true is this a test for HTC's future product plans?

Dont think its a test. Maybe a preferenace of what customers want perhaps?
Either way, I cannot see this out until later part of the year. This assumes WM7 is due out later as well.

OK so the HD2 won't get a WM7 upgrade then I guess.

I call the leaked photo a fake.

HTC wouldn't use old brandin, and chrome in an Android screen?
