I know this is an old issue; but my research did not yield any fix apart from a hard reset or the deletion of cemail.vol. (I have tested just about everything that has been advised out there; to no avail).
Before I do a hard reset however, I wonder if something can be done with the cemail.vol database directly. My setup is somewhat complex so a reset would take more time than I'm willing to spend on this just now.
To this effect, I got a great little applet called "dbView" that allows the editing of the databases on the device. To my reckoning, I should thus be able to delete the phantom accounts. However, I can't find any reference to these accounts within cemail.vol.
Any suggestions which record exactly harbors the email accounts in there?
Thanks in advance!
