Should have done this 3 years ago. Maybe I'd still be using WinMo!
I like it A LOT! Would love to see some non-MS apps on it to see how people develop for it. And not just games.

Don't know about the no ActiveSync part tho...as per this video.

o a bit laggy with the fps skipping on a really fast CPU with supposed fast graphics hardware
o really bad use of screen space (felt like watching only left-half of a bigger screen or always in zoomed in mode in Opera/Safari Mobile)
o looked really hard to get to any place quickly without a lot of swiping around the interface
o didn't really show off any newer/better OS innovation like webOS did
o the lack of chrome made the UI look unpredictable and difficult to navigate without a lot of memorization
o Zune/PlaystationHome type UI doesn't belong on WVGA when you just magnify up all the UI elements loosing all of the resolution advantage (a screen many times the extravagant PalmOS 320x480 res, it shows LESS information)
o Spring 2011 (you know it for any manufacturer variety) and requiring all new hardware with no target manufacturer deliverables (who's making a compatible phone and I have to throw away all current investment?) is no deal
o new OSs take a really long time to mature

I'm starting to look really hard at Android or iPhone now. If webOS survives and comes to GSM, it's even more ideal.

Thank you! That's the first reasonalbe post I read here.

I totally agree.

Must admit, I tend to agree with NuShrike
For them to announce this so far in advance of it's launch does remind you of IBM and FUD
That large text going off the screen looks awful!
There is a lot that's nice but it does seem too little, too late. The next generation iPhone will be released this summer and I might think about that but to be honest I've still seen nothing better than my iPhone 3G except the 3GS and this doesn't look like it will tempt me back to Windows.
Who knows, it's still a long way off and a lot can happen between now and release.

Well, I must admit the current iphone's interface is more suitable for a portable game console, than for a smartphone. Having only XX screens, filled with XX icons is the best colorful eye catchup for teens, but it's a nightmare for anyone that wants fast information access and productivity. Only the lockscreen on the jaibroken devices is useful. We'll see the what the next iphone will bring and how innovative apple really is, but it better go into the right direction this time.

Looking at all the posts so far most of them correspond with what I was thinking. Yes, its nice but there isnt anything else there that is new or exciting.

Having an xbox area I can only assume is going to confuse people. From what I can tell it will be the area which you can interact with some of the xbox features ie chat etc, but also download games. This will then get confused with the marketplace area which will include downloads, but possibly only games from other developers not subscribed to the xbox platform. So it could be that there are going to be 2 places to download games from, or one place on either side of marketplace or xbox area!! So much for less confusion!

On the other hand, it certainly is a much better interface from that of the current offering, so you have to look at that in a positive light. Im just wondering how updates will be pushed out, if its going to be like apple does (in my opinion, a much better way of doing this) or if its going to be ota, or indeed if we have to rely on the carriers/manafacturers. I certainly hope its not the latter, given the current experience!

Cheers

Now if it had Media Centre Extender built in they would have killed it accross all platforms. I will keep dreaming though. :D

Without having seen this in great detail, I worry that it looks like losing the things i like about my 6.5.3 TP2. (Which by the way, if it had a bit more oomph to deal with Sense 2.5 a little more easily, would just be fantastic as far as I am concerned)

I do too in fact, an eeebox mounted on the back of my TV and a 360 upstairs. But I KNOW i'm in the minority, particularly since they have no internal sky card support. Bah!

But that's another rant... :D

I think we are a minority mostly because Microsoft does not promote this feature.

To settle your rant this may be a very interesting read. Aus site but i did see posts from spain and uk.

I use media centre!

I think the caveat here is something Windows Phone offers that other phones do not.

However, one day maybe there will be cross MS platform support for each and every device they put out there. Ie make a zune player/windows phone 7 series handset work properly with the xbox.

Cheers
