Customized i8000 JB3/JC2-23529/23549/23551/23563 Lite ROM (English version only)

This ROM is at the request of some members of the MoDaCo community.

I take no responsibility for you flashing this ROM.  It works for me.
Please READ everything posted before flashing.

I have increased free ram and the base ram by changing the PagePool to 8MB.

ROM specifications:
- ROM based WM 6.5.5 build 23563 (JD3 EURO version)
- Preserved: many programs that I like
- Samsung Widgets & Samsung Today screen removed
- Added: new power_on/power_off screens with sound - Thanks Dande!!
- Disabled File Signing/Certificate checking
- SDKCerts installed
- Did not remove the following per requests: MSMoney, MSN Weather, Marketplace
- added 4-col Start Menu (Portrait) 10-col Start Menu (Landscape)
- Added m.carroll PureBlack3 theme
- Added new Titanium screen - thanks Sonblack @ PDAViet
- Includes Mobile Office 10
- Added Titanium AppLauncher - thanks Contable
- Added Tacchan23_Black_65x_VGA theme
- Added MySoftReset program
- Added DCIM_Date mortscript to change DCIM to today's date
- Added ScrollBars mortscript to change width of scrollbars if use Tacchan23 theme
- Removed Opera - install whichever version you like
- Able to adjust PagePool with utility provided - READ Instructions Please

- NOTE: The Samsung Today screen is offset from the top, showing the background from any previous screen. This is a Samsung issue. I spent a lot of time searching for a solution and could not find one. If anyone knows how to fix this, please let me know. Both the Samsung Widget  and Windows Default screens are okay.

i didnt see MSN weather on the removed list, is it still in the ROM? and is the samsung dial panel fixed? did u replace the SPlugin with windows default plugin? thanks a lot for ur new ROM.

Did no fixes except disabling file signing/Certificate checking.

Hi Gary,

first of all thanks for the firs 6.5.x JB3 ROM. Seems master kstan has company under the Cookers Olympus

I'm currently using kstans 6.5.5 JA5 UL Timebomb patched and I have a few questions:

1) Is JB3 still faster as people are mentioning under Secanys thread even using 6.5.x?
2) Is Smart Memo included?
3) When using Samsungs dialer can you see a scroll bar on the right or is everything normal (this is a bug in kstans ROM)?
4) Can you send/receive MMS normally?
5) Did you keep Samsung's crappy launcher?
6) How is the GPS FIx time on this ROM?
7) Did you also changed Pagepool to 8Mb on this one?

1. I think it is a matter of perspective - I think it is faster.
2. Yes.
3. Yes, but it is very narrow - width-wise, that is. Can change width through registry.
4. Yes, have already tried it.
5. Did not remove it.

Do not use Samsung NPC.  Maybe someone on this forum can help.
No problems with Active Sync - tried on 2 different computers.

yeah thats a major problem with his builds, i wonder what the issue is. As i mentioned in his other thread i changed the pagepool to 12MB, 16MB 18MB and 20MB all have the same results of the omnia hanging. Oddly though 16MB and up the phone would not freeze anymore but still would not sync with mobile center and WMP.

3. To change the width of the scrollbar:

To change the scroll-bar width – open your registry editor and go to : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\GWE\

Then, Adjust the following values:
cyHScr : Horizontal Scrollbars Height in pixels (default is 13)
cxVScr : Vertical Scrollbars Width in pixels (default is 13)

3) Soft-reset

Extras:
cxHScr : Horizontal Scrollbars Width in pixels (default is 20)
cyVScr : Vertical Scrollbars Height in pixels (default is 20)

Hi Gary,
Currently I'm using kstans 6.5.5 JA5 UL Timebomb patched, and my device dessting is as follow:
PDA: I8000NXXJA5
CSC: I8000XSOIJ2
Phone: I8000DXIJ1

Can I flash your ROM for PDA part only? the phone and CSC remain the same. Is there any conflict if the PDA become JB3, and CSC remain IJ2 and Phone remain IJ1?

I get the offset issue on the Samsung Widget screen as well. This rom does fix a problem I had with JA5 where the vibrate will continue after a call is connected and the other side hears the buzzing sound. Many thanks to the author of the Rom.

It has to do with how the modules are relocated when building the ROM.
I use the default relocation when using Wes58's RomTool.

Wes found that by relocating some of the modules to slot 0, it fixed the problem.
Not sure how that affects available memory.
