Look I'm asking for help. Don't flame me, I'm not a apple addict by any means but I do absolutly love my iPhone's only if they are jailbroken though because it will basically do what ever I want, otherwise I would not have an iPhone I would have already bought a N1, I love google and love having the newest things. Any way I'm basically wondering if a rooted nexus one can do what a jailbroken iPhone can? You have safari download manager or plugin that let's you download any file through the browser, as if you were using your computer at home! So mp3 files whatever you want.

Searching the filesystem so you can reaname or move files you download or create new folders basically any file or folder editing you want.

I'm dying to get a N1 for AT&T now that there's one with 3g signal but I don't know enough about it to jump on it with out asking. I'm pretty good with the hacking I've read about it all day so I would understand terminology and just know how to root it.

Thanks a lot I really appreciate any help

to answer that simply, YES. lol.

I Have a tmobile nexus one I previously had an iPhone and a blackberry 8900. My iphone was obviously unlocked to work with tmobile and I LOVED it. All of the apps?! lol it was awesome. So I know what you mean.

I wanted my nexus because it was the newest thing out there and according to some poll i saw on another sight, only about 135,000 people have one currently. lol. (awesome)

Now to answer your question. There are plenty of managing apps available to android to re-name and move files within the system. I use Astro and it works quite well. It moves things on the SD card which is where everything is stored. I dont believe anything is stored to the phone besides apps and games (someone correct me if im wrong)

It does not have all of the apps the iphone has, but in terms of what you can potentially do with it, the nexus has the iphone beat.

This is where i'm prob going to sound dumb. the app astro where do you get it from andriod market or off of a website and install it after you root? because there are no installers on the andriod platform like cydia or rock app are there?

Yes the market. No you do not need to root in order to use it. and im not aware of any apps like rock or icy or cydia for android. I do know that there are ways to install apps that are not in the market with a rooted android.

Im new to the android stuff as well. Im learning as I read. I was a pro on the iphone scene with the jailbreaking etc... I feel like a pup with this android stuff but its all in the reading. A lot of the info is scattered so just take your time before doing anything. its nearly impossible to fully screw your phone while doing any of this unless your flashing radio.

Wait.. you said you hadnt purchased yet. lol. sorry. My advice, get one. its worth it. If you do not like it, return it within 14 days. DO NOT ROOT IT until after those 14 days.

I say this because, thats adequate time to get used to the phone and find out if it has any defects that may require you to send it back. + that gives you time to read up on everything and have the phone in hand. Do not attempt anything until you have read and feel comfortable

i havnt tried any of that. but it seems possible. I believe it is possible to download from the browser. Ive downloaded pictures from my email from the browser.. but alas it was gmail. lol. As for streaming movies and watch tv shows, flash 10.1 is supposed to be coming to android. I know it already works on the desire ROM and it has been demoed streaming hulu.

I have no clue what mewseek is. Search the forums? im sure someone has addressed all your asking.

You can download anything with the browser, or at least I've never had any problems.

Superuser File Browser (needs root) is my favorite file management app but there are a ton of others.

As for streaming TV, there's the TV.com app and UStream Viewer (hit or miss). Some flash feeds will work as well, but I haven't searched very hard.

Bottom line for me - in nearly a year of Android dabbling, I've concluded there's virtually nothing it can't do. Whatever issue you run into has already been remedied or is being worked on by a smart developer and all of the information you need is in forums like this and xda.

Thank you much or your reply. I got my N1 the mail yesterday and wow its a different beast for sure. So far I like it. It does everything my iPhone did jailbroke and I didn't even root it. Amazing! Now I'm just trying to figure it out. Killiing the Apps That's my only grip is that they should have made it a little easier to kill them like on the palm pre. Also just trying to find some really good apps. Thanks for your help guys.
