I need some help to get the .IMG out of the Samsung firmware updater. Here's the link.

I would like the CE07 if you have it. If not, DB05 the latest version is OK.

In short, the reason I need it is because I bricked my i770 during firmware upgrade. I would like to try to flash it with some Samsung flashers.

I have the CE07 and DB05 installers, plus a working Saga, but don't know how to extract the img from any of them.  I never did much with the Saga because I could never find the SamsungPST_SCHI770.dll or msi installer for it (although I've heard that it does exist).  I haven't updated to DB05 yet for fear of re-locking my phone for the second time.  I've already had Verizon unlock it twice so I can use foreign SIMs when I travel, but it's taken over an hour of getting transferred around both times and I'm not looking forward to the inevitable repeat.

I tried extracting it from the phone using sorg's dskdump.exe, version 2 (see http://www.modaco.co...60/dskdump-2-0/), but dskdump doesn't seem to work on the sch-i770 Saga.  Then I remembered one of Adrynalyne's posts (see http://forum.ppcgeek...ead.php?t=72679).

I extracted both the CE07 and new DB05 rsrc parts using that method.  There might be extraneous stuff in the files that needs to come out (I'll try a comparison of known good Omnia img files to figure that out), but the resulting img files do seem close.  They're about 150MB each (too large to upload here).  

I just realized, though, that we can't simply use UMDL to flash the img unless we can find a Saga version of UMDL.  Do you have any other ideas for flashing it?  JTAG comes to mind, but I sure hope there's an easier way.

I followed the guide from Adrynalyne, but still could not get a valid .bin or .img file

In addition to UMDL, I'll also try Mirage_LV, which is for flashing i780

Yea, there's extra junk at the beginning and at the end, but the middle part looks just right.  The hardest part is figuring out exactly where to trim it (that is, at which addresses does the good ROM img part begin and end).  I fiddled with a hex editor and trimmed the end (bottom) to what looks like the right spot, but ran out of trial launches on my demo version hex editor before sorting the beginning (top).  I can try to open it again and post up later enough info to at least re-find the ends of both roms.  

I couldn't find any i770 config for UMDL, but hadn't even thought of Mirage.  Good idea!

You mentioned a good point about "profiles". I couldn't find a flasher with specific i770 profile, and not sure how much is it gonna affect the flash. But since my phone is dead anyways, I might as well just give it a try. But need a valid .img file first.

By the way, is there a way to enter "emergency mode" if my i770 is now stuck at the Samsung boot-up logo?
