Reflashed my Desire on my work pc and Symantec kicked in thinking it found a virus with adb.exe and halted the process & quarrantined the file. Now everytime I try and reflash on a different PC I get the dreaded error(110):file open error on the PC. Disconnect the phone & all I get is a black screen & HTC logo. Nice. Thanks Symantec you've just bricked my Desire!!

Anybody able to help???

It's not possible to fix a pricked phone without opening it and work with the phone inner system.. I would had contacted Symentec and tell them to buy you a new phone. If the don't listen.. sue them all ! :-P

If it can't be fixed without opening it, it's still under warranty. Contact who ever you bought it off, tell them you followed all instructions and the firmware update failed.

Have you tried the folowing:-

1.With the phone off, hold the Volume Down button and press and release the Power button.

2.Select Clear Storage from the list by pressing the Volume Down button.

3.Press the Power button, and confirm by pressing Volume Up.

4.Sit back and pray.

Yep, sadly it wont boot into recovery. Oh well I guess it's got to be returned, that's gonna be a pain in the ass. ;)

*UPDATE* - Fixed.

Removed the battery, left it for a few hours then reflashed on a different pc and it flashed fine. Then thought I'd try & repeat so reflashed with the older rom from XDA and got the error again and again couldn't flash back to the newer. Removed the battery left for an hour and then could reflash again and get it working!! Wierd
