weird, but I can't get it working!!

I do any specific step you told me.

I see "connection" on the iPad, but then the iPad doesn't surf the web.

I have bought a 50 euros nokia and I am using joikuspot.

No hassle, no trick. you just click on start and it works fine.

I cannot believe HTC. They do not support macs at all. This is terrible. I am TRYING to break away from my rooted iphone, and HTC is making me not want to. Naughty company! Do they not understand how to steal market share?

So so so so so many people are just wanting "HTC Desire to Wifi Tether to Ipad"

The reason? Because apple won't let people tether their iphones to the ipad, and rather than hack the ipad, people are opting to buy phones that have wifi tether. i.e. Me. Sure, I could pay for mywi and root my iphone 3gs, but that comes with a whole hassle of nightmares and all so I can do something that should come out of the box anyway. So I'm angry enough to go to another company and buy another phone.

I spy market share. And HTC doesn't want a part of it. Advertise that your phone can wifi tether, and you will get LOADS of people buying your phone so they can buy the cheaper ipad and tether without paying an additional contract on a 3g ipad.

And it seems developers at http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/ don't seem to keen on a speedy resolution : (

How depressing. Greed stifles progress and connectivity.

No joy here.

I have tried the following:

start wifi tether using LAN settings 192.168.2.0 / 24

goto terminal emulator from market

ping 192.168.2.100

destination unreachable.

I have my iPod set to:

192.168.2.100

255.255.255.255

192.168.2.254

192.168.2.254

Open safari

cannot find internet.

It's working with my iPAD now. It turns out the DNS was messing things up. screenshot of iPAD settings to follow in a bit.

my settings as follows:

iPAD set to

ipadtether.jpg

I simply run the WiFi tether application on my desire with:

no WEP

LAN settings as 192.168.2.0/24

BTW: I am not a networking guy, my buddy came and fixed this so I cannot really debug beyond the information provided.

I'm so pissed of having to keep an iPhone with me just for tethering :(

It randomly stopped working for me today. Symptoms were, i could ping from HTC to iPAD but not from iPAD to HTC. I changed the frequency for the wifi tether and it started working again.

Thanks but it doesn't work either =(

Also tried different lan settings with no luck !

Considering the small number of posts on this topic, either nobody cares or they found a different way to make it work =)

Nop :)

A lot of people care but the developers have no idea why it's happening.

Follow this thread:

http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-teth...0&start=100

Cheers.

It's now working! Theres a small amount of work to do to get the wifi tether to work in the way that it should but it's now working properly. Just a bit of setup and file manipulation for wifi drivers!

Read to the end of the issue on the dev web site for the solution.

This is what I did extracted from the dev thread.

Download:

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1496809/fw_bcm4329.bin

1) Mount your sdcard

2) Create a directory named "android.tether" (without quotes)

3) Open this directory and copy fw_bcm4329.bin into it. (downloaded file)

4) Uninstall old versions of "wireless tether"

5) Install the latest 2.0.2-pre release of WiFi Tether from: http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/downloads/list

Enjoy WiFi tether as it should be!
