Obviously no proper updates have been released (e.g. to upgrade it to 2.1) and so i have started looking into Custom ROMs and have a few Questions: - What advantages are there to custom ROMs? - What do i have to do to install them and what do i have to backup and how? - Will they allow my to upgrade to a better version of Android (2.0/1 or 2.2 when it comes out)? - Would I be able to get a custom ROM with HTC sense UI built in? - Are there any you reccomend for my device? Thanx Aaron yoO wAtzzZ uPp., thiiZz iiZz jibbz., nd im not really a dev but i know some thinfgs about rooting n alll the advantages., ok first off.... you can have recovery and backup access...(which is really helpful in most cases) you can put on custom roms from other mobile devices...(like me, im running the hero rom on my g1) you can have multi touch depending on which rom you decide to put on it., and many much other things and again depends on the rom u put on ur phone., yes i have heard tht htc upgrade yo 2.1 is coming in june., i have my fingers crossed to hope it happens., yes with most roms they have the hero sense which is pretty cool :huh:., well i just saw this post and went on google to see if this phone can be rooted and i found tht it can ;]., i will provide you the link., so it can be eased out for you., me myself am a newbie., n i kno how u feel., i have posted many ppl to help me out to maKE my own rom but no one is willing to help., but thts ok i guess ill learn myself jus like i learned to root my phone., ok well anyways here the link..http://www.linuxinstead.com/blog/?p=219... just copy n past in the address bar., n if u have any qustions just PM me...good luck and make u read everything first before proceeding hope this helps... Ive followed the instructions from the wiki for the pulse from these forums, but when i do it it says waiting for device in the terminal window and doesnt do much. Am i doing something wrong? Also where can i get custom ROMs from, and can i chose any ROM that i like the sound of or does it have to say its compatible with my phone? Guest jibbz Posted May 3, 2010 Report Share Posted May 3, 2010 (edited) ok since i dont have a pulse myself cant really kno exactly wat u r doing but i will help u out., n also i dont really kno which wiki u used so here a link tht sounds good to me (something tht i would try) ...... http://www.droiddog.com/forums/showthread.php?p=3858...this is really helpful...it has a step by step instructions on how to do everything wit the pulse... and yes the rom has to say tht its for the pulse otherwise u will end up bricking ur phone cuz other phones have different system files n all tht stuff...n i just done some other research for you n i seem to find tht the pulse only have two roms at the moment...but i could be rong on tht...you can try to find more roms on google or other forum website....and let me tell you the other day i tryed to put this one rom on my g1 n did not pay attention to which phone the rom was for n i ended up bricking my phone hahaha... but my phone is fine now i unbricked it ;] lucky me hahah...so plz be careful when rooting... if tht link dont help...let me kno... jibbz Edited May 4, 2010 by jibbz Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
