This kitchen will let you modify the stock ROM. It IS pre-rooted, but other than that is completely stock. :P

hello Paul,

I am new on the android world and just baked my first custom rom.
In order to install this rom do i have to install a custom recovery image first?

I did google quite a time but not sure if i do need to do the custom recovery image first.

thanks,

You need to be rooted, then use the recovery launcher provided with the root.

Paul, in /unit.rc there is a line that remounts /system as ro. When you modify this file in the image so that it does not remount as ro, should system than writeable?

Good!
Just a question: debranding allows to apply ota updates. And rooting does? What're specific differences? Thank you

Hey Paul,

little problem with your rom - Cannot connect to my pc anymore when the phone is on..
I plug in the usb-cable and the legend shows me the notification about usb-debugging but nothing else (I mean the choice what I want to do: "charge - hdd - etc.")..
And when I go to "settings - connect to pc" a forceclose comes up with "Sorry, The application settings "blabla" hast stopped unexpectedly"

Can you please take a look at this?

Regards

Did you exclude Sync? It seems doing so may cause this issue.

Does anyone know of a tun.ko module that I can use with this rom. please? Or can someone point me to instructions on how to compile it myself?

Don't know the kernel version of this rom seems to be /proc/config.gz

With that, the kernel sources from HTC and the Android compiler environment you can build it ;-)

Upgraded my laptop so I don't have the environment live at the moment.
