It's just a guess...

@Paul: would it be possible to release a rooting r6 with some lines of script to backup the misc partition before starting recovery? By doing this each user would have it's original misc.img available just in case something goes wrong. No need to edit a downloaded file, just put it back.

To use fastboot your phone has to be in fastboot mode. Hold VOL- while turning on the device, wait for some messages to flash up and disappear. Then ensure FASTBOOT is selected in the menu you've got and press the power button once. From this point you should connect your phone to your PC using your USB cable.

You should then be able to run the fastboot commands from the PC.

From a terminal emulator on the phone, I used connectbot off the market.

Ok, thanks...

I have installed connectbot, but how do i proceed? It says "ssh" and "username@hostname"? I am sorry, but I am a total noob regarding this....

ConnectBot didn't work for me (although you can select 'local' instead of 'ssh'), I used Terminal Emulator. There are a few free ones out there, just search on the Market.

Like many, I guess, I haven't had the balls to root/flash too much due to the bricking issues - so to all involved in this solution: great work, and thanks - despite my phone not being bricked, you've still freed it. Really looking forward to playing and breaking and fixing things now! Many thanks.

Hi everybody, I made a quick and dirty misc.img generator in php :(

you just have to provide cid and rom version et voilà...

As I am currently in train, I can't install it on my server, but here is the source for everyone how will try...

I will put it online in few hours.

happy unbrick!

edit : latest version online here : http://ks33673.kimsufi.com/misc/

updated source code as attachment.

Hi,

thanks for the good work, being free to flash new roms makes it so much easier. My device was never bricked, but I tried to get my misc.img. I did it with the phone running via adb, I attached it. However, I could not find my CID in there, so I tried it with the fastboot command with following result:

I have not seen this here until now, is my CID now 11111111 ? And what means super CID?

Or did I do something wrong?

Where did you get your phone, and have you done anything special with it? Yes, that's your CID, and that could be very interesting...

You didn't do anything wrong, but I'm very curious as to how you got this Super CID phone lol.

Super CID means you have a unlocked phone, with maybe even more possibilities!

Tell me, if you go into fastboot mode, do you see 'S-ON' or 'S-OFF' ?
