Hi,

Just a quick question. Last time I was on o2 they used to charge via bolt on for wifi and data separate.

Does this 'unlimited data' therefore mean that when I connect to my home network they are not going to change me???

Just been looking at the T&C's on o2 and it's not clear.

So I guess I mean, is 'unlimited' covering 2g/3g wifi hotspots and wifi home network.....?

Cheers

Dai

:)

on your home network / wifi will not count towards your data usage. Data usage is from gprs / 3g.

Thanks for that fella!

o2 to drop unlimited data plans

10 Jun 2010 - Networks - By Leigh Geary

Let's face it. "Unlimited" internet doesn't exist. Even when an ISP or mobile network says, "unlimited internet" you'll probably find a tiny paragraph at the bottom that mentions a fair usage policy and possibly some blocked ports or traffic shaping. o2 have today announced that they'll ditch their "unlimited data" plans for new and upgrading customers, with a 500MB data plan bundled into most plans instead. CEO of o2, Ronan Dunne, stated..

"We know that customers are looking for clarity in pricing as too many offers have clauses and catches which are not easy to understand. With the wide range of Internet based services now available on mobile devices we’re providing customers with generous clear data bundles that give customers freedom."

According to their stats, 97% of o2 smartphone owners never exceed 500MB per month, but you can have 1GB for £10 per month if you wish.

If you're on o2, do let us know your thoughts on this, especially if you're in that 3%.

Anyway, I think it's s*** as I always get near or above my 500mb on my Orange account.

Hi all,

Yes i saw this elsewhere earlier and to be honest it's the same as all the Networks are now doing VodaFone announced their new policy a while ago and the fact they where going to start charging people who used more then their allowance, Orange have also said something similar. The good thing about it is well they where never really unlimited anyway so at least now they are being straight and honest about what you will get and how much it will cost you obviously the bad thing is the low allowances and the cost of them.

Although it kind of makes me feel glad i took the £25pm Mobile Broadband deal with 3GB per month now as I'm about to sell my TG01 and get a Nokia 8800 Sirocco just for voice calls.
