Can't connect ROM to computer after flashing

My i920 will not connect properly to "Windows Mobile Device Center" (in Vista) with any ROM except the original DC23. I've tried some of the ROMs people have posted as well as my own builds and the only one that connects properly is the original DC23. By not connecting, I mean that Windows responds to me plugging the phone in, but never fully connects.

I figure it probably isn't a problem with flashing because I use the same flashing procedure to flash back to the original DC23, but if it were a ROM issue then others would have had the same issue, so I am at a loss.

I haven't found any information on this issue (all the connection issues seem to revolve around Windows 7), but I apologize if I someone answered this issue and I missed it.

I wrote that last message after flashing a bunch of ROMs, rebooting windows, rebooting my O2, etc. The following appears to be making it work (although it seems a little bizarre to me):

I flash the ROM as usual, leaving the phone plugged in until I get the orange "tap any key to continue" screen. After waiting a some time to be sure everything is loaded, I close OCTANS (without unplugging the phone) and within a minute the connection works perfectly. Thereafter the connection continues to work flawlessly. Weird.

Few ideas and questions???

Vista 32 or 64 ??

Whats the tap any key deal ? I have to tap screen to get new rom to initialize .

My first thought was bad driver or wrong one for vista.

On my win7/32 PC I use the front usb port when I updated to DC23 I had to change ports. Weird..

Now one for rom flashing and I would use the other for VZW /Samsung updates.

Also I'm sure your not using a HUB ??? It's been suggested to also use the rear usb ports and not the front, but I do use the front on my PC.

Hope so of this might spark a idea for you...

;) :(
