It does work trust me, I spent money on two that didn't one was made by Duracell the other by Belkin both from Play.com and both rated at 5v 1000mA. I was thinking of braking this one down and putting it in the nicer Duracell case.

Fingers Crossed I think mine is coming from a supplier in York by the looks of it.

So leading into the next question....what kinda cradle are you using now with it?

Its a dash Genie from ebay a little pricey at 17 quid I had a blond moment i guess, but it pritty good not having to clap it down as the sticky read pad is rather strong.

I can confirm that both the wall plug and usb charger work with the Dell Streak, such a relief got a long journey in the morning and looking forward to using google maps navigation :-)

Sorry to labour the point, but just to confirm, both the plug units work but cable-wise we are currently still stuck with the bundled one (thanks to the proprietary connector) - yes?

A connector that is tantalisingly similar to Apple's, yet oh so different - score none for standardisation you big industry b******s.

Well that 2 in 1 iphone charger didn't work either guys. It worked for about a minute, then the display said the battery charging function mwas being disabled as the charger wasn't a valid type.

Well I guess that sorts it out.....Ill have to buy Dell and shell out the £55. Only good thing is my girlie can have the iphone charger..lol.

does that magnet hold the streak ok even on bumpy roads ? Looks like a good cheap alternative !!

Can't say what it would be like for really bumpy or off road, but was fine on regular roads with speed bumps etc whilst cornering fast and braking hard. Had a passenger holding out their hands ready to catch it whilst I was testing! You get a thin metal strip with the mount that can be stuck on the device but I just put it (unstuck) behind the battery cover.

Perfect for occasional use and convenient, just stick it on. Now just need a really cheap usb cable to keep in the car.

Also frustrating, bought an Energizer XP8000 (xpal) ...doesn't charge the streak either.. The streak does light up when I hook it up.

I was thinking of buying this for Dell Streak

do you think it will work with the supplied 30pin connector cable.

I think that what you want is the PC07 http://www.energizerpowerpacks.com/my/prod...accessories.php

This is hard to buy separately but I believe that these perform a similar function

In the US

In the UK

For an explanation of charging from 'dumb' power sources see here

http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=38230

This is the best explanation that makes sense

I hope this helps. I too am going mad with trying to find a portable power source for the Streak and have been researching all I can find.

You didn't know about the proprietary connector before purchasing the phone? The only reason I avoided buying the Streak is because of its proprietary connection and I suggest that in the future, you avoid electronics with proprietary connectors. The only way manufacturers will stop with this annoying habit is when consumers take a stand.

The Streak does not use a propreitary connector. It uses an industry-standard PDMI connector defined by an ANSI/CEA standard. Dell did exactly the right thing by using an industry standard.

The problem here is that they're the first to use it - and no one else seems to be using it! Grrr. It's everyone else who should adopt it, like how the various phone manufacturers have dropped their truly propreitary sockets and adopted microUSB.

As far as the chargers are concerned, I noticed that my Streak recharged from the stock AC/DC charger, of course, and from a PC or USB hub plugged into a PC, but would refuse to charge when plugged into any other charger, or a disconnected USB hub. It would start, but then charging would terminate. After my upgrade to Android 2.2, however, it charges from third-party AC/DC USB chargers (Belkin UTC001-C) and powered, unconnected USB hubs (Micro innovations model# USB455P). Still very few alternatives in the way of the cable or connector itself, though.

just buy ipad compatible chargers. they all have the middle two pins shorted out and theyre rated at a minimum of 2.1amps which is more than double what the streak needs to charge.

Bought usb car charger from Poundland and that works ok charges good and keeps it topped up when running phone as sat nav felt the charger and only slightly warm only thing that is odd is when I plug it in my power manager program applies battery then ac profiles a couple of time then settles on ac profile and away we go.

And for a quid not much to lose and as a bonus its a two output but would think trying two when streak plugged in might cause issues.
