Mobile Signal Widget?

Have stuck on ADW launcher which is great, and have removed the task bar thing from the top.

Does anyone know of an app that allows you to display mobile signal type/strength as a widget on the home screen? It's the only thing I look at/have use for on the task bar... I have spent hours Googling but to no avail.

Thanks

sounds good loco, any screenshots?

Not yet, as the graphics are the final thing I will create. I can confirm that the widget is working in text-only mode!

Thanks - but for me the whole point of a widget is to display info on the screen without you having to do anything?

Cheers for the suggestion anyway :D

Cheers Loconinja - I don't think I have any other options...

Looking forward to it!

Any preferences?

Widget size: 1 cell, 1x3, 2x2, 1x4 etc.

Graphics: Rising bars (like most signal strength notification icons), antenna with expanding "waves", analogue gauge/meter with needle, digital readout?

I plan to make later versions skinnable with all the above options.

Anything would be good to be honest :D

Anything like the standard one would be fine - is it possible to show the type of signal too e.g 3G/GPRS etc (like the standard one does)???

Don't really like the analogue needle gauge style though.

Not a big retro fan  Nice new shiny modern shizzle is where it's at....

I happen to be looking for the same thing and found this thread. If you are soliticing opinions, I am looking for a 1x1 widget. Preferrably some type of graphic (like bars) along with the actual -dB strength as a text overlay. ...not asking for much am I? :)

That's EXACTLY what I am working on. The widget works, I am just refining the presentation (which is quite fiddly in Android, IMO).

Here's a screenshot of what it looks like right now. This is just a *prototype*, to ensure that the widget is installing, working, updating, not using excessive battery, uninstalling correctly etc.

The final version will also show GPRS/3G/roaming status and upload/download activity.

Suggestions for graphics welcome, actually. It is surprisingly hard to make something that looks GOOD.

Very cool. I was surprised, with all the widgets out there, that something like this did not already exist.

Me too - there's about 50 million battery indicator widgets :)

Same design as above, slightly less BOLD with colour indicator bar.

Other designs in the works. If anyone has any suggestions or wants to see some specific design please let me know.
