“We are working hard with our partners to update the HTC Sense experience on Froyo and distribute it to our customers as fast as possible. We expect to release updates for several of our 2010 models including Desire, Legend and Wildfire beginning in Q3″

So if it is the "Calendar Year" we're looking at a date between July 1st and September 30th

What a mood killer

They said in the start of 3rd quarter, so I would say between July 1st and August 15th'ish. But well HTC hasn't been the best to keep their promise (Hero anyone?) but I hope they will be better this time ^^

"beginning in Q3" does not mean "in the geginning of Q3" It only says that they will begin in Q3, so somewhere between july, 1st and september, 30th

Indeed, I'm fairly sure it does not.

You can't put an end date on that,
I see it as, starting from July 1st and any time after that, could be next summer.

I just wish they would put a developer release out for those of us who DONT want the sense UI.
Would save them time and give us a better phone too.

Why not using one of many Roms wandering around the web then?

I personally wouldn't use the phone *without* SenseUI it is the coolest thing the phone has going and screams style.

Might upgrade to froyo tomorrow or the day afterwards.....I'm toying with it - and think I've found my goldcard....We'll see!

quick question. Im on o2 and if past experience is anything to go by ill probably be waiting til this time next year for o2 to push their update so if I root my phone to flash the generic HTC froyo (when they release it), will I then be able to unroot my phone and still keep the upgraded rom? Or will it force me to go back to the o2 rom

If you use a Gold Card you can just install the WWE RUU instead of waiting for the O2 one, no need to root.
