after having issues with a boot loop I wiped my desire, repartitioned my sdcard and reflashed MCR 3.1

flash went ok, but I have reinstalled a number of apps and just about all of them force close as soon as I open them... I've tried uninstalling an reinstalling but get the same result every time...

Apps that force close: Spare Parts, Swype, SMS Popup, Advanced Task Killer Free

Apps that seem to be fine: Dolphin Browser HD, Facebook for Android, AppBrain

Any suggestions what could be the problem?  Is my sdcard partially borked?  its only a few months old Samsung 8GB class 6...

You need to fix the file system of the SD partition. Reboot into recovery (Recommend you use clockwork mod for this, using unrEVOked or fake flash)

Once you have rebooted into recovery, type "adb shell /mount -a" to mount all the partitions, then type the following:

"adb shell e2fsck  /dev/block/mmcblk0p2" and wait for it to finish

I would also then recommend running fix_permissions. Download it from this post and put it onto your SD card, install a terminal emulator from the market, type SU into the terminal, and press enter then type in:

sh /sdcard/fix_permissions

And let the script run.

That should sort the problem

Thanks for this.  Since i posted I removed the sdcard, reinserted, uninstalled and reinstalled the apps again and miraculously everything is working ok now... Nevertheless I am going to follow your instructions just to make sure I'm working with a clean setup!  Ah the joys of phone hackery...

im having problem with A2SD (low space warning).

i am new to linux/android.
i set up my sdcard using gparted on puppylinux.
i didnt use clockwordmod/rom manager as it doesnt allow 1024mb for ext3... weird: clockworkmod recovery doesnt boot anyways.

the partitions seem to work properly. /system/sd/app & apps are on sd (checked with Adb Shell).
also, there are mmcblk0p* in dev/block.

i am getting the low space warning and am not able to install more apps... A2SD bug???
maybe a poblem with the script 40a2sd ???

im a a novice i cant find it out. i have rebooted the phone several times already. maybe the script dont free up space on /data?
