the guide worked great.

it's gone to 1.15, is it safe to do the OTA update it's asked me about? it won't remove root? or more importantly trash my desire?

** i did search on the root thread about apps2sd but it refers to using linux (which i dont have)

i did have a look at the nimbu root guide, which includes an addition to add apps2sd, but it's for an older boot loader .75 and i'm on .80

can i just follow that or do i have to flash a new rom on there?

basically, i'm happy with 2.1 really till the official comes out, just badly need a2sd.

thanks guys

hmm, for a moment now, i thought a2sd was in this since i installed all the apps i had before and a few more and still had space left - but i presume that due to the odd junk being removed from the rom?

I assume that you have rooted using the r6 riskfree version.

The 0.75/0.80 part of the Nimbu thread refers to the rooting process, not A2SD.  As you have already rooted your 0.80 bootloader this is no longer a factor.

You therefore now have a stock 1.15 ROM.  There is no A2SD on this.  You can safely follow the Nimbu guide or the modaco version on p45 of the rooting thread to install A2SD. http://android.modac...pport/page/880/

All you really need from that process is the SD card partition.  Without a partition on the card for the Dalvik-cache you have nowhere to store your apps.

Once you have partitioned the card, I would recommend installing the MCR3.1 ROM with A2SD+ (the pre-baked one from the top of the thread is fine).  This gives you a lot more free space on your phone than you will get from the above method.

Most posters recommend avoiding OTA updates once your phone is rooted.  MCR3.1 will give you a 1.21 ROM - same as the OTA update without the risk.

i've partitioned via rom manager - it won't install anything though, on reboot, it shows a drive image, with a '?' above it in red.

Have you got another SD card you can try? Have not see this error, but I would guess that it is unable to find your card.  Otherwise try to partition again using the Nimbu/Modaco method...

heya, what i did (for some reason i had a feeling about rom manager), is uninstall and reinstall rom manager and redo the clockwork part.

then it worked no probs at all.

running mcr 3.1 now with apps2sd+

now, i'm sure i read that with spare parts you could see where each programs cache was stored sd or rom.  how do you do this?  just out of curiosity more than anything else.
