Guest thelankygeek
Hi Guys. Just thought i would give you all a little bit of inside info. I work for a mobile retailer and was talking to the HTC technical rep / trainer today. He explained how the froyo update is going to work and when its coming... In the next week to 10 days you will get an OTA for your desire, this is stage 1 of the update and addresses some security issues and bugs before they can deploy froyo. Some of you might have had this already. The froyo deployment will begin in about 4 - 5 weeks time, not only will it have the froyo features but some extra little things that HTC are adding to the distro.. this is the reason for the upgrade delay as they are working on the new features. Some friends of mine are going on a training course with htc so hoping they will get to see a bit of froyo on the desire. Least you all know its on its way... Guest tommo123
or the promised support for divx... we kinda have that, although not perfect, with rockplayer or whatever it's called. the video recording as it is now though is abysmal. either 720p video, or at least 800x480 with a solid 30fps in varying light conditions would be good. 720p with the variable frame rate we get now would be pointless Edited July 3, 2010 by tommo123

I want 720p, the processor should be fast enough to process that. But out of everything what I'd really want is a proper power management system to make the damn phone last longer than it does. Guest nollie
I think after flashing Paul's latest FroYo ROM I will be content with it for the next 4-5 weeks until Sense FroYo comes out. Very much looking forward to this, especially for the extra goodies.
Guest shotten99
It is reported to be a leaked rom. Oh that's so wrong. Tease, tease, tease;) I can't wait to see what Paul's got up his sleeve when it makes it here.
Guest hally83
this is amazing, is it a custom rom or is it official from htc? Are you serious, this is a massive disappointment. So the only things they managed to update are a torch and wi-fi hotspots? No UI updates at all. No 3d app drawer, probably sacked off the awesome new gallery too (hopefully not!) no screen change animation. Bah, i'll wait for a non-echo vanilla rom thanks. Guest EddyOS
This isn't custom - it's real (apparently). Where would the other HTC widgets come from if it was custom?

Im guessin that this isnt the latest progress of htc developers, and so this probably means that htc themselves are very close to releasing an official froyo update. I tell ya, there was no progress like this of 2.1 on hero within the first 2 weeks of its release. The guys who are behind the rom are bug tweakin and adding in things for a release, it will be the best froyo rom yet and will be the closest to the official release. That stuff your talkin about means absolutley nothing to me cos they are useless things, sense on froyo is much more important for desire users. Im disappointed because I might as well stay on 2.1, it is no different. Maybe a bit faster but the Desire is fast enough IMO anyway. I'll be glad when it's released so someone can strip sense out of it though. Edited July 5, 2010 by hally83
